what dont you like about the metal, it seams like it would be better or does it stress other parts too much

I have two warheads. One with the metal gear and one with the plastic one. The metal gears hold up a long time. I have had the same gear on my truck for a long time. Just remember if you get the upgrade metal spur make sure you use red loctite on the six screws that holds the spur gear together. Are you stripping the plastic spur gears or metlting them. If you clutch bell gets to hot it will melt the gears in one are. If you are stripping the teeth all around the gear you need to make sure the motor mount is not cracked and check all the screws that hold the motor mount in and the engine screws. Make sure your clutch bell bearings are not wearing out. If the are starting to go they will heat up the clutch bell and melt the spur gear. I have the same plastic one on the other truck and it is still holding up. Make sure the mesh is set correct.

do as davido666 said it's good advice.
I know some people don't like a metal gear as if a small stone gets in there it might break something more other then the gear. I have seen it happen but I think the warhead benefits having a steel spur. But you still have to make sure you adj your bell and spur as per the instruction in your manual. Just cause it’s metal does not mean it cant strip or damage your clutch bell. I don’t know what engine you have but with a bigger faster engine go with the metal set up.
You will hear from both sides of the fence about this but this is my opinion only. Let us know what you do.

I had the same problem with the ering coming off. I had another supper pooper from a raze buggy and I put that engine in with the sg shaft. It works better because it uses a screw to hold the bell on. A much better method.
