Hello all, I'm new to the R/C world and I am planning on purchasing G3 after the holidays, but my rig is a little on the slow side. Unlike most, graphics have no meaning to me, I just want the game to work with a good frame rate.

My Rig:
P4 1.4 Ghz
256 RAM
Nvidia Geforce 4 Ti 4600 128MB

If anyone out there plays MMORPG, my PC can handle Lineage II Chronicle 3 quite well, I have very little lag on it, and it is very graphics intensive. Thanks in advance and sorry for asking the question again. Remember, I'm not concerned how good the game looks, just that it does run.

Your Processor will run it, your NVidia Card will do fine, but you may want to add another stick of Ram(at least get up to 512mb if running Windows XP). I am a Gamer and have played Half Life 2, Call of Duty 2, Far Cry, Battlefield 2, and now I am playing Guild Wars. All these games run better than what G3 does. It is not that G3 has graphics that are all that fantastic even compared to the previous G2. It is just that the Graphics Engine used in G3 is not that friendly or designed as well as high quallity games to run good on any computer unless perhaps you have a new Alien or Dell XPS, or something along those lines. You should be able to use it though with the settings at the bare minimums. There are some descent features with G3 if you are able to crank it up, but in most cases to get it to run smooth it will not be any better than G2 IMO. G3 is not a game, and is more of a training tool, but if it were sold as a game it would get terrible reviews due to the fact it should look almost life-like with requirements it takes to run it well. Fortunate for Great Planes it is not marketed as a game, and alot of RC Flyers view it only as a training tool, and many probally don't play the latest High Graphics games to know how a real good graphics engine performs with some machines that may even be several years old, but with some nice upgrades like Video, Sound and Ram.

I sold my G3 after owning it for about a month, and kept my old G2. As a training or refreshment tool it is ever bit as good as G3, and I also feel that Great Planes could have just come out with a software upgrade to G2 instead of coming out with a whole new Interface Radio and Software. I am thinking it probally had to with just trying to soak up another $190 from all those who allready had spent plenty for G2.

Thanks for the info kangaroo. I'm glad someone else out there compared it with other high-end games currently out. You are totally right, GP markets it as a training tool, not a game, and it will be a training tool for me. One big reason I am buying it is because I don't own a Tx right now, nor can i afford to get one and G3. When I am able to get some more cash I will get a good Tx to go along with a Heli. But, as you said, it will work on the bare minimums.

If you are only buying G3 due to the included controller - you may want to check out AFPD as it can also be purchased with an "Interlink" type controller. Overall G3 is a PIG compared to AFPD - AFPD will run like a champ on a lesser pc/laptop where G3 will not.

Thats just not true anymore since G3 added photofields. I used to get 30fps or less before the update and now get 200fps+ after the photofield update, this is with all settings maxxed.
I get the same fps on AFPD w/all settings maxxed as I do wG3.

yeah thanks rick. I have a bit less then that all the way around. And 3DD I have my system running at like 20 -30 and sometimes it gets a little shaddy looking. So I was looking for a way to improve it just a tad and it would be nice to get the 200 fps to have a little room to max out all of the settings and still have it run decents fps.
