I have a Canon 20D and a A85, I just got a A610, 5 megapixels...boy is it fast for a compact camera, a very good camera with lots of features and the faster Digic2 processor which really shows in the startup and focusing area. Able to shoot continuous at 2.4fps so should be better for moving objects at the flying site.
Good walkaround point and shoot
If you dont want to spend on a Dslr check it out.

I have no idea what different individuals pay for specific cameras but I know for a fact that YOUR 20D does quite a job. I know for a fact that the JOSTENS school photographers in our city of WINNIPEG bought eight (8) of them last year. They finally went to shooting their groups digitally this past year.

Getting a white Balance is no bid deal with that camera but you MUST shoot one each time you turn the camera on. Other cameras will retain the balance.

Other than that, the season wasn't without it's share of a learning curve, but within 30 days, almost the entire team had it down 100% on all of its necessary features. We opt to shoot everything in the MANUAL mode so that we have as much control over what we do as possible.

Hopefully, we will be able to utilse the same camera for all of the individual shots.

I know that privately written software has been developed for it so that each shot can be individually identified in conjunction with the cameras automatic numbering system.

Yep it made me put away my film camera. My wife worked managing a photographer and the 20D finally swayed her and I left it at home one day and she had taken a bunch of shots, I asked her if I should send it back as it cost a fair bitbut she didnt want to give it up.
The 610 seems like a very good pocket camera and oyu have a fair amount of control over it.
After trying varoius other brands Im pretty stuck on Canon. The 610 also has superb battery life.

I guess about the oly other brand of digital camera that I really like is the SONY series.

I bought one of the very first high end units back about 6-7 yeras ago, It was the F505. A 2.1 MP tha, at the time, cost me $1500 bills. Since then a whole graduating series of up scaled products came along.. presently, their latest is a unit called the R1 It is rated at about 10.8 MP (I think) and even up here in Canada, it only running around $1300. I read the specs on it a few nites ago and it took me darn near 20 minutes to read them all.

I had a Sony F717 good but I like to be able to use my old lenses and change things. On the downside those dust mites are a pain.
I think Im gonna sit back for a while before I buy anything else. Would really like Canon to come out with a 20D full size sensor thats a little better than the 5D...simply cant justify the additional $1500.
The 610 justified itself as I carry it in my truck and a buddy called me on the road and we flew over to the middle of the state and back spur of the moment. I just dont like leaving the 20D unattended while Im working as they have stolen the tools out of it while I was on the roof...no shame some people.
