Building and flying R/C airplanes is not all that some of us do in our spare time. What do you do that may interest others? I make usless wooden items like, bird feeders, bird houses, fireplace bellows, wooden buckets, butter churns, 1800's snow sleds, shaker boxes, longbows , crossbows and even a wooden wagon wheel.. I have attached some photos.

Ah ha! A craftsman has somehow slipped in here. Beautiful work. My "other" hobby for the past year since we downsized to a new place was building a workshop.

What I did was, mount the fan on the wall when I built the wall. I used an overhead projector to show the image on the wall and then drew it in charcoal and put a clear spray paint over it so it would not smear. I am no artist so I did it this way.

I like to shoot guns, but haven't had the ability lately. Back problems--don't think my back will enjoy the kick from a 12ga while shooting clays.
I also like goofing around with computers. I've built a couple. The one I'm using now is probably outdated to some of you, but it's got a 3.0ghz P4 CPU w/Hyper Threading Technology and 800mhz FSB. It's sitting on a Gigabyte board with 800mhz FSB and Hyper Threading Technology. 2 gigabytes of DDR 400 PC3200 Ram. Thermal Take heat sink with 6 heat risers on a 2700RPM fan. Keeps my CPU around 40c at idle and 60c under a heavy load. Not bad for a Prescott core. 680W power supply. Pretty decent video card with 256MB of ram and a 256bit interface with 400mhz clock speed. Could be better--but it works. Windows XP Pro.
I'm scrounging parts for my wifes' computer right now. It will also have a Gigabyte board and HT Tech. with 800mhz FSB. But, I only got her a 2.0ghz Celeron CPU. I got 1 gigabyte of ram for hers, and a standard heat sink. I'm looking for a decent graphics card right now. I just got the 500W powewr supply the other day.
I just need a couple more things and then I can slap that baby together and she will quit downloading every stupid screensaver and background pic into MY computer. GAWD those things reek havoc on an OS!! When she screws hers up with all those downloads and internet spam--I'll show her how to fix it----------ONCE. If she don't learn her lesson--she can deal with the slow speeds and crashes that happen when you download all that cr*p.
I'm a geek. I know it.

Having five kids in the house is my other hobby.
We had 2 kids--and then I had them babies clipped and cuaterized. Can't afford to feed any more mouths than that and still have $$ for airplanes.

WOW...
You guys have cool shops.
I had a nice set-up when I was married a few years back. But now I have no space for that dream.
I like the plane drawing/ceiling fan. Does it have any uses other than looking sweet? Can you throw you old food at it as a make shift garbage disposal??
Wood working is a great hobby. I have a table saw, (Christmas gift #1) a disc/belt sander, drill press and other assorted woodie tools. I also dabble in metal work (I'm a dremel craft king!)
Also... Painting. We all paint too right? Our RC's need that artful love.
music movies food!
Best to ya all today!

Diferent strokes for diferent folks. At age 53 I took up scuba diving. Wanted to do it for 30 years. Finally did it. Waaay cooool. Even diving the diry lakes here in MN is OK. Going to Key Largo in Feb. I like the idea of making a crossbow. I do some woodworking myself ( not enough to call it a hobby). Do you have any plans for the crossbow? I would like to build one. Note-- If you have something you want to try don't wait till you are 53. Find some way to do it now. It's really too bad that a lot of hobbies are expensive. My motto--- If you can afford it -- do it. But remember --- Family first. Maybe that's why I didn't take up scuba diving till age 53

Bowyers Gallery Build A bow Public Message Board is where I got the info to make longbows and crossbows. I also did a search for crossbows to find more info. I made mine of oak from the home depot. Photos of some of my latest projects are attached:
