After probably 8 years out of the hobby, I am working my way back in. First step is breathing some new life into my pretty unused RC10GT. It sat idly on my workbench at the end of the summer due to a lack of time to replace some screws, and college coursework. And I just never got back to it.

Now, I will be rebuilding the GT, but just that quickly, I was bitten by the bug to have something new/different. I am quite intrigued by the minis, though I was hoping they were nitro as well. Doesn't appear to be many of those, yet. But what also interests me are the truggies, though I haven't found many listed as such. I assume that ROAR is calling them monster trucks when checking for rules and races, but I don't know.
In reality, I don't know that I will race often, if at all (I still need to see what is close to me). So whatever I end up might just be more for backyard fun than the track, but I want something that could do an adequate job with either.

I had been looking at the lightning, the savage and the traxxas maxx line, but I still don't know. the traxxas options look more like a fun truck, not a racing one. the savage i think might be a tweener, and the lightning looks the part of a racer.

i do want to keep the initial investment reasonable for an RTR package. If I find out there are tracks near my new home, and I want to race and get into it, I can always turn around and get the Jammin' (in my dreams).

thanks for any input on any of these
