Good deal, Any pics?

Am clearing the Falcon this weekend. will post some pics as soon as its dry.

seems there are 3 parts RC modeling--maybe four. building the kit-painting-then rigging and then flying. Seems to me the painting part is the longest especially scale. I passed on the rivet detail, just way to many circles to trace I did that kind of detail on my Eagle, It looks great, had to do it once, but it may be some time before I attempt that again. It would have to be my most favorite jet- one I spent 10 years pulling buckets, rails and catapult guns, canopy emergency jettison functional (blow) checks and, 300 and 600 hour phases and time changes. Can anyone guess what that jet is ?

An occasional canopy hook to the frontal loob, and the good old Martin Baker back. Not much room in cockpit to stand once the "bucket" is out. You have to stand facing the tail to pull the main beams off the catapult gun. Problem was you cant move your feet to much and it was all upper arm and shoulders and arching backwords to get the beams high enough to come off the gun. Fun stuff!!!!!!? Allot of work was on the flight line, Always enjoyed that as we usually had a flight schedule of 4 turn 4 turn 4 so there was always activity to watch between egress finals Full blow on take off made the ground shake!

A few shots of the paint progress here. I am not real happy with the results as I wanted a more flat finish. I mixed the Omni clear with a flat material but it just never happened. My technique probably wasnt the best either as I seem to have some areas more glossy then others, probably due to my paint strokes being to fast or to slow. The fuse is long so getting a good even stroke was tuff.

Maybe if this was something I do every day it may have come out better. I might experiment with some 0000 steel wool to knock down the shine. Will try it on the ventral fins as I wont be flying with them on but just for static display.

Back at home now for install of the hardware.

The transfers are from Aeroloft, and they turned out fantastic! I could not be more please with the quality of the graphics, how they look and apply. The price was right as well. Thanks Aeroloft for a job well done!

Again the glossy finish bugs me but I'm not going to get to bent out of shape as this jets going to be a flyer not a show piece. It should look good in the air glossy and all Hope to have it flying in a few weeks but uncle sam is getting in the way and I will have to wait until later next month to start working on it again.

Hi Mark, maybe you could spray the lot with clear coat with flat appearance, seals the decals as well.
I always seal my models to protect decals and other weathering. This way I can also play with the gloss.

Good luck on the maiden, you will like it!!!

Regards,
Gerald

If the gloss finish really bugs you, you can scuff the clear with 0000 steel wool. Be careful over the graphics so as not to damage them. This Eurosport came out glossy and I used the steel wool on it.

Fine Scotch brite pads work well, also, and you don't get steel wool splinters in your fingers.

I will try the fine scotch bright and 0000 steel wool on the missile rails and see how they work, Thanks for the tip/s! I will be certain not to over do it on the graphics as they are the best part! Am looking forward to the maiden, if the Falcon is anything at all like my Eagle I will be happy. Should be better actually with a straight pipe as I am using an AMT 180 to power both. PA says it will fly nicely with that combo.

Thanks
