id like to hear how the vess performs, i have a zdz60 that i ended up with a 23b on, was the best i think from the 23a and a menz 23-8, gave best overall performance and kept the motor the coolest. I run a 26-8 pt models cf on my zdz80, but would love to hear how the 26b stacks up, especially if you have tried a 26-8, i have a 26-10 also but i like the 8 pitch the best, at least when it was on my extra, this plane may be completely different as far as how it reacts with the same prop. anywho i love the vess on the 60 so i thought about trying it on the 80 as well, keep me posted larshkj please

Thanks for those numbers. 6900 is a bit high, isn't it? Have you tried a 27" prop on the DA85?
It will be interesting to see what the 3W80 can do with the 26B. My engine is also rich, but the transistion is pretty good. My guess will be 6200-6300 rpm. We'll see

cool, i may have to get one, i think i will try the b though, i didnt like the 23a on my zdz60, too flat imo, the b worked nice, closer to a 23-8 menz that i liked also, not sure if the same will hold true on this set up, but thats my thoughts anyway, i like the 26-8 i am running on my 80 now

just how bad is the stock landing gear on this thing? i heard you should not even use it on any of the size yaks from sd models, is it that bad? my buddy has an aeroworks 100cc yak and his gear was spreading out even on soft landings, he strung a thin metal cable between the gear a few inches down from the fuse, nice and tight, it helped alot and isnt that noticable, anyone try anything like that with this one?? i may still order the cf gear cause i like carbon fiber anyway but just curious if its a must or not

Dave go with the B for sure. The 3W-80 (less power supposedly) was making the NX-26x10 bark at half throttle after a gallon of break in.

I went straight for the CF gear on the 33% because of things said in this thread. Here is an option. Go to Extreme Flight and order a set of gear that fit the 88. They have black or white and although not as light as CF will probably hold up good. They have the forward sweep like the full scal and look good. If you pancake one it it will bend and can be bent back. About 25 bucks and 1 inch taller than the AM CF gear for the 33%.

Richard

I came in hard today when my engine quit unexpectedly at the end of a low inverted pass with the smoke on.

This type of impact would normally break something, but the stock gear held up just fine. Mine is probably a more recent version, so maybe the gear and gear block were updated since the thread began. All I know is that something should have broken, and it DIDN'T!! I'm going to really go over it with a magnifying glass just to make sure, because it really was BAD... <
