I just did two 5945's a couple of weeks ago. I sent them in with my phone number and all the info you fill out on the service request.

They called me and said 39 bucks for gear trains on two an since the servos were more than 80 new I thought it was worth it. I paid with a CC over the phone and they were on the way back to me within 2 days.

cool, i tried calling today and gave up after being on hold for a while, if its $40 for the 45's i may contemplate the cost for this plane, maybe splurge on the 85's and leave the 45's sit until i have a scale warbird or something like that, we will see

well i sent in a few 45's, i will be using them for ailerons, i had more than i thought so fixing a few and have some on hand still, they said around $15 to change the gears, thats not too bad, so the money can be spent on something else now like a programer ...my buddy has one and said he will let me use it, actually he will help me set it up, so that will be cool, i may still buy one for myself for future use so i wont need to depend on others

what servo arms are you guys using, i am guessing 1&1/4 or 1&1/2, plus does the included rudder arm work well or should i get something like a 4" arm with some kind of offset for that too? servo extensions? i will check myself but just curious on lengths, something else i cant remember at the moment ....got it hinged today, i HATE hinging but its all done now

well i dropped the ball on this baby for a while, but made up my mind to get it going soon, its hinged, pinned the hinges, started sealing gaps, had canopy cut out, screwed in place, then pulled off to glue and rescrew, for whatever reason i had to re-strecth and drill some more holes, so i had a lip hanging down on one side, got my dremmel and was almost done, had the canopy up on end, on the ground, it slipped from my hand and topled over, that was enough to break the plastic , so another week from now my $40 will get me another one from tbm , the replacements are plain tinted, so i wont have the orange stripes on it , guess it will still look okay...will keep updates as i go, i am determined to get it done

Keep with it. The flight performance will make it all worthwhile...

I haven't had that problem with mine. This Yak is by far the most well-behaved plane I have ever flown, and I've flown a lot of 3D planes. I'm the designated test pilot for a lot of planes at my club, and I always enjoy going back to MY Yak 54 with its lack of bad habits. This plane is the only one I've flown to date that, despite the 3D surfaces and tail-heavy CG, does NOT snap out of tight loops and waterfalls.

We had a guy with a digital video camera out the other day and he caught my first attempt at a harrier landing in this plane. It was a lot of fun. I'm hoping to get the video from him soon so I can post it. I also did some low hovering and a few waterfalls and other maneuvers up close and personal for the camera. I'll post a link to it when it's here.
