i bought the 8711 for the rudder, it came with 3 plastic arms, a long one, a wheel, and a small cross, which are you guys using for the aluminum arm? none of the holes match up which is no big deal to drill out, just wondering which is best, the wheel so you can get 4 screws in a croos formation? or the longer arm and still get 4 screws in just in a line??

I think most folks use the SWB 4" offset arm. I also have an 8711.

well i when i asked about that one no one answered me , so i ordered 1&1/2 arms for all others but now i dont have the 4" one, i am not going to order just one arm and wait for it i guess, i will use the wheel i think and the aluminum arm it came with, if something doenst seem right then ill order the arm, i dont think my lhs would have something like that, and i am hoping to finish it up this weeknd for a maiden next weeknd, thats the plan as of now anyway

The wheel has more surface area.I think I would use it.

Agreed, use the big round wheel...

I have found that my 5955TG stalls out when some high speed wind is going over the rudder. I am using the inner holes on the stock servo arm and the outermost position on the rudder horns. My next move is to drill a couple new holes a little closer to the center and see how that works.

i did use the wheel , seems to be pretty good, in fact i kinda like the set up, got more done this weekend, basically all that is left is the ailron servos, my buddy lent me a programer, ive never done multiples yet, hopefully this week in the evening i will tinker, if not will try my best to finish saturday for a maiden sunday , wings and balancing is it, other than wire tie and clean up, but thats not bad, i know my wife is glad, i am in the other room in the house and i am making the house stink...epoxy(not too bad) but thin ca, whoohooo, and trim solvant to wipe things up, holy macarony!!! my wife and i(and our 3 palmeranians) are all wasted at the moment ....but thats about it, thank god

2 questions for you guys, where are you ending up with cg to maintain inverted level flight basically hands off, thats where i like my planes and i hate to have to move my batts around alot, it says 7&1/8 but also says thats conservative, so what maybe 3/8-1/2?? just looking for a better start point

also, is there a trick to drilling for the horns and actually having the holes line up for the plate on the other side?? ...i did the ele and had a heck of a time, i used a hand drill and tried my darnest to keep it strait, still had to hog out the holes and fart around with em, once i ca'd them and cleaned it up i am not worried about structure or anything, but i got the 4 wing servos to do yet, i thought about using my drill press but the wing isnt flat so i dont know how much better that would be, might get rid of some of the angles to deal with, just have one more or less right? anywho, any tips for that would be nice

Dave, I meassured where the holes should be on the side of the servo (say for example that the outer servo control horn is at 15 inches from the wing tip on the aileron) I marked the 3 holes and then I took that meassure and did it on the other side (top) of the aileron.
Then I put a 1/2 balsa stick on the trailing edge of the aileron and drilled the holes on one side but only at half the depth of that aileron, I then turned the aileron around and drilled the other half, with the 1/2 balsa stick at the trailing edge. That way the two drills come together at the center, or at least you start drilling at the correct place, if the drill goes to one side or the other you just keep moving it until both holes align, but the original holes are the correct size and in the corrct place.
It sound very time consuming, but it works great.
I hope you understand what I tried to explain and that it helps you.
John

Ohh, on the center of gravity, I have mine set at 7 1/8" and still needs a little down to keep level, but I had tried it at 7 1/2" and there it did not need down elev at all. Maybe at 7 3/8" would be the spot you´re looking for.

Inverted or upright.
I know that you know this but for the newbies if upright and still needs down then it is tail heavy and the cg needs to go forward.
I sure you mean when inverted.
