i called swb manufacturing direct today to order my arm, told him what happened and where i am at now with my set up, i was going to get the straight arm since i am on the hinge line on the rudder, but he said to cross the wires you get the offset arm, with the straight one 1 cable would get real loose at throw, he also said that his offset arm is desinged to be used if you are on the hinge line and just crossing the wires, he said he has this conversation several times a week and there is confusion out there, he desings them, i think his name was scott, he recomended the 4" offset so thats whats on the way, very nice guy and knew exactly the plane and everything i was talking about, id recomend them to anyone now for sure, so its coming from wisconsin to az priority, not sure if i wll get it by the weeknd but i know i am golden now, i feel better knowing i redid the rudder set up the correct way now too, we will be tearing it up soon

If the cables are straighyt then with a offset arm the control horn on the rudder must be moved back the same distance of the offset.
The attachment is from the SWB website.

well i was planing to cross them, thats the way you guys said you did it for this plane anyway i think?, got the arm today but no time to mess with it, will do it one of these nights...example B in the pic is the offset arm with crossed wires, and the horns on hinge are even, thats what i am shooting for, thanks

thanks for your help!

I knew you'd like it... I've flown a lot of planes, several different models of Yak 54's included, and none of them are as good as this one.

it amazing how well something works when you set it up correctly , pull pull finally done the right way, snug at center, the "inside" one gets a tad slack at throw, i think it supposed to do that, i even got more throw then the 1st time i tried, ready to give her hell and see if she holds up this coming weekend

Be prepared for some good knife edging Dave... =)

The only problem I've had with this plane has been the rudder set up. That rudder is so big that it has a great deal of leverage, and using the stock servo arm, even on the inner holes, has stalled out my 5955 servo at high speeds. My most recent move is to use a longer horn on the rudder along with using the inner holes. The deflection isn't as crazy as before, but what good is all that deflection if it only works on the ground?? I may try dual servos next if this doesn't help it.

On my first flight I noticed that it was flying with the tail wagging back and forth. Tightening the cables and moving to the inner servo horn holes fixed that, for those that may encounter this problem...

got some good flights today, new pull pull works like it is supposed to , going out again tomorrow, today was dialing in cg with velcro on my batts, i was going for hands off inverted, ive done that with other acro planes, so little by little moving batt back, flying inverted, trying flat spins, and seeing how it slowed for landings, thats how i tell my cg also, inverted spins were great from the start, upright got a little flatter with less throttle as i went back with cg, and the landings got nice and slow, but heres whats wierd, i dont know if it was my imagination or the increasing winds throughout the day, but it seemed like it got squrrlier in a hover and trolls, i know aft cg can effect the elevator making more sensitve but it shouldnt make hovering less stable should it?? i ended up where the nose will slighty drop inverted, close enough for me, barely any down needed to hold it, so i know built a little tray and wire tied in nicely, but i am curious to try in the morning again when its calm, i thought that was odd with the hovering thing, it was incredibly stable when i started, then got more twitchy with the cg back farther, like i said it was getting windier so i wont know until i try again with calmer weather, but any opinions on that? if it does seem worse i may move it slightly forward again and see if it gets stable again, the only drawback would be upright flat spins may not get as flat(unless i give more throttle) and the landing may be a tad quicker, by no means hot, just quicker, i do know i enjoyed the stable hovers early in the day more than the flatter spin at the end, if that makes sense

show871, KS1090 with a Mejzlik 28x10. 200 more rpm than Greeves with a 27x10. DA should have header and pipe I believe.

Thanks!

Has anyone noticed less motor vibration with the pipe vs the pitts?

well i am regreting using the 5645's on the ail, they do suck for centering, i had about 5 or 6 of them lying around thats why i used them in the first place, but now i can move the surface one way, it centers, move the other way and it wont, move it back the same way and it will and the other way wont, not the same each time, any thoughts on 5625's??? am i being cheap? should i just get 5985's? those are on my ele and i love them, fast and powerful enough, and a tad less $$ than the 5955's, but the 25's would be way less $$, just curious on some opinions, i am dealing with it for now but i know i need to upgrade sometime in the near future, sucks to roll inverted than have to correct all the time

Dave, the 5625`s are just the same as the 5645, they a re just a little faster but mainly the same servo. The 5985 woud be the way to go. I have two on each aileron and work great. You can get the 5985`s at troybuilt or airwild hobbies cheaper that tower, I think they sell those at $75. They have the 5955`s at $89.

Does anyone have experience using the TOC carbon gear for this model ? If so could you post the width at the mount plate and the wheels pls ?
I have been using the Graphtec but its getting quite ratty. The TOC gear appears smaller than the stock metal gear ?
thanks.
