ORIGINAL: Zippi I've made my mind up and I'm putting the ST G-2300 on my new Seagull 1/4 scale Laser 200. I thought about the new Saito 1.25 which I don't think would be enough power and the OS 1.60 which would be to much. I've read a lot about using the Bisson pitts style muffler on the G-2300 and not having enough back pressure and most people are plugging one exhaust tube or pinching one tube off. Does anyone sell a muffler for the G-2300 that has just one exhaust tube and will give the correct amount of back pressure so the engine will run better? I don't like the idea of pinching one tube off as it takes away from the look of the plane. If I was going to use the Bisson Pitts style muffler, what are people using to plug one of the tubes and would it matter which one you plug? --------------- Find a piece of hardwood dowel that exactly fits the opening of the tube, or is slightly larger. If slightly larger, chuck it in a drill and hold a piece of sandpaper in one hand while turning the dowel slowly with the drill. It doesn't have to be a precise fit, but precise is better. Run a bead of silicone rubber around the inside of the tube and slide the wooden dowel up inside. Let cure. When fully cured (up to a week later), drill two small holes through the tubing and into the piece of dowel. Not all the way through. Then do the same thing on the other side. Find two screws that fit and secure the piece of dowel in place. Voila! A plugged hole. You can't see what's plugging the hole from the outside if you do a clean job. All you will see are two screws, and not both at the same time. No one wants to admit to using wood to solve an engine problem, but I will. I have no pride at all. <G> You will be amazed at how long this plug will last. I have some that are nearly thirty years old and they are still working just fine. I did smear silicone glue all over the plug before inserting it though, so there was no bare wood exposed to hot fuel. Good luck.
