Hey People,

I have a quick question. I wanted to buy the FS8CPI (the full stuff version) however, my crystals are at 40.790 MHz. I wanted to buy it through the USA site, and not their UK Dealer (the UK dealer has 35-36 MHz, but is EXPENSIVE! specially in shipping).

Here is the problem. First, 35-36 MHz and even 75MHz in NOT 40Mhz! So I thought I the FS8 just comes with one crystal for its Rx, so I will just put similar crystals in the Tx and that should work, right????

They referred me to the UK dealer cause the UK had 35 and 36MHz. I am also wondering who carries 40MHz then?

Thanks.

Since this tread seems to have been visited bylots of FAA co-pilot users perhaps some one can answer this question.
I have fitted a the basic fma co pilot to a e-powered raptor 30.
I have futaba T7CP transmitter. As I don't have a user switchable gyro I have both channels 5 and 7 free and have tried the co pilot attached to both.
The co-pilot works 100 % ok but what I don't under stand is how to fully turn off the pilot with a switch.
If I adjust end pointson ch 7 , or on ch 5 the end points and the gyro top and bottom % i can get the co pilot to reduce the swash plate movement in the "off" position but if i put my hand by the sensors there is still a small reaction and the swash plate moves a small amount. the only way I can get this not to happen is to turn the manual sensitivity to nearly off, this makes the "off" position truly off, but also severely affects the amount of movement that the co - pilot applies when in the switched on position on either ch 5 or 7.
so the question is ; How do I get the pilot to fully switch off but work on 100% position on the sensitivity position [ fully clockwise] ?
regards
Alistair

Your Co-pilot IS off, but the small twitch in the swash plate is cause of tht "Auto-trim" Feature on the FS-8. REad the manual for this and you will know why. Auto-Trim is on, there will be a slight adjustment to the swash plate even when the Co-Pilot is off.

When the Auto-Trim is off and so is the Co-Pilot, nothing should move. I believe there is a combination of button there to turn off the Auto-Trim. I think 5 times black button?

Hey Falconeer [aka Mr Bean] thanks for the reply, but there ain't no black button, I do have a red button for the activation of the preflight calibration, but no where in the book does it talk of pushing it to turn off auto trim.
if i adjust the trim sensitivity rotary switch with a screwdriver fully anti clock then the auto trim is off but then it is also off when the switch is then switched on.
The small amount of movement I have when switched off is enough to effect the heli if it gets to close to a reflective heat source sutch as trees / buildings ect. and what I am trying to avoid is having to remove the conopy and open up the box the receiver and the FS 8 control box is in to turn the unit off with a screwdriver when a switch should do it
regards
Alistair

HI All

Well it looks like I got here a bunch late to take part in the Co-Pilot discussion. I have been flying Helis since 1968, it took forever to just hover let alone do the 3d stuff. I want to do scale flying, and as well I loose orientation way too much. The biggest ship I have now is a T-Rex 500 (Electric) I am using a Spectrum radio. I also have a Blade 400 and a Max-Axe cp with belt drive and is capable of autos. I bet there is not a person out there that learned fully how to fly without a gyro, I had to they did not exist. I also have 5 mini helis that I fly in the house.

What I want to know is just how good the co-pilot realy is and is it worth the investment ???????????? The 500 is a great ship but if I go to a scale head say for a Hughs 500 will it help keep the ship in the air.

Thanks olderrich
