Status: offline 		My duel Ace is on the back burner again .I've had a major rebuild on the table for several weeks now due to some one stupid flying,but that's another story. I will keep looking in the thread to watch all the progress on A6Texan rebuild.

How about some pull-pull pics ?

It's been a few years since I put mine together, so I had to take a look, but I went with a straight single wire from the servo to the rudder. I beefed it up by getting rid of the thin supplied rudder parts and used 4-40 wire encased in plastic tubing instead. Rock solid now !

We had a beautiful fall day here on Saturday so I dragged the Dual Ace from the wall and put on four flights. What a nice flyer !

Just thought I would post a couple of images of my new 'Box Kite' tail conversion. Sorry just kidding. As I have said before my Dual Ace is a constant work in progress and now is in the process of having a 'T' tail fitted. The stock horizontal stab is being used as a platform/datum to work from.

Status: offline 		Here are the pictures of my modifications extra air vent on the top of the naelle for cooling the Irvine 40's. The pull-pull cabling...( Dont forget to cross them because otherwise you will have the nose wheel steering the wrong way). The non standard nose wheel from fults

The 'T' tail conversion is almost complete, just need to adjust the CG back again to its correct position and mount the tail cone. As it will require nose weight I will now run a Rx battery pack and stop using the speed controllers BEC.

Status: offline 		Just be aware it may need more elevator as you don't have any prop wash benefit. The rudder may not be affected that much.

Thanks for the comments and yes I was aware of the elevators no longer being in the prop wash. The elevator area on the new stabilizer is about 20% larger than the originals and 40mm further aft. The first flight will tell all, but should be OK. Now, what else can I change???

Hi Foodstick,
The fin is fairly stiff butit can be twisted a little if you grab it by the ends of the horizontal stab. I used carbon fibre stripson the inner faces of the verticle timbers and the internal braces are 'I' beams made from birch ply and balsa. The tail post is made from laminated spruce and is keyed right through the rer of the fuselage. I'm pretty sure it is stiffer than the tail on lets say the Vmar Tomahawk. The only way I think I could get more torsional strength out of it, would to have made it thicker and an airfoil shape. This would also added more weight to the rear and would require alot more lead in the snout to correct.
Thanks for the concern and when it is wheels up and flying we will all know if it's any good.

Status: offline 		I am really glad to hear you have thought it out so well, and built it to last. Its much too nice of a modification to have a failure in the air. Can't wait to see how she flies.

Way back somewhere on this thread I posted pics of my bashed Dual Ace. I was given it by a friend after a bad crash, I redesigned the entire nose section , shorter and to me more realistic looking, I also had to rebuild the cockpit area, so I cleaned up the window lines, and made it look quite a bit different.

it has flown, and well.. but not so often yet !

I do keep an eye on this thread to see what is news and this time I was not disapointed. There are still 2 flying in our very small club ( 9 Flyers) Yours Paul T (the bloke with too many half finished projects in the shed)

Hi Bill,
Thanks for the comment and after investigating the link in your signature I found we both share common interests. Apart from flying, in my younger days I used to race motorcycles (80cc and 125cc GP) and if I wasn't on a race track you would find me scratching around some winding road in the hills. The attached image is of my last race bike, an 80cc GP unit that I made myself over a two year period.

I flew the now 'T' tailed DA for the first time at the Swan Hill Elecctric Fun Fly this weekend and all went well. The take off is now very smooth with no jump off the ground antics anymore. Flight is straight and true requiring one click of down trim to have it flying level. Absolutely stoked.

The bike looks great. at 80CC you could almost R/C it!

PS: I know my website is sadly outdated. Dont even own those bikes anymore! Have two Suzuki Cavulcades now plus an '84 HD FLTC. Once I get around to building another server, i will move and update it. Some planes dont exisit anymore, plus there are several new models to add to it.
