I'll take some pics of the unit sitting on the bottom of my DF to give you an idea. I should be able to make a wiring harness like that. I would have to order a few more connectors from Spectro. Does that harness in the picture go to a male or female servo plug?

Could you also turn them on while on the DF in a semi-dark room where you can still see the DF and not just the lights?

The connector has three recessed pins so I'm assuming it's male, then it would plug into a female accessory plug.

It would actually be eassier to just splice the chaser wires into the existing adapter/wires you already have. That's one of the reasons I kept it without a connector. You'd certainly have to us it in conjunction with NAV lights, because these don't tell you which direction you're going in.

So you're talking about the auxiliary pin connectors ? Not the servos on the DF V ?

Concausa, There are no servos on the DF Vti (not the standard one anyway). But the aux connector is to add them.

Come to think of it, Sky, all you need is a standard servo Y adapter to wire the lights to your existing harness.

I was told by DFI that the sixth servo channel is active from the multi-pin connector on the circuit board. The third wire in the harness is the control or servo lead that activates whatever is connnected to it. So is that "Y" adapter available at most R/C stores?

It should be, but you're not using the servo control pin, you're just using 5v and ground. Yes, servo Y cables should be available wherever r/c aircraft are sold, like this one for example.

madean, how difficult would it be to make a string of rope lights (LEDs) like christmas lights but have them in a chase pattern in a circle, like your latest creation, long enough to outline the frame like mine and koop's fiber lighting? I'm thinking of them being encased in plastic tubing. Thanks.

I don't think it would be too difficult.

I really don't have the time right now though. I'll be in France most of July, and preparing to go most of June.

I have listed another set of these on Ebay here.

I'm glad I got to see that round circuit board! I created my own CMOS flasher circuit, and had round circuit boards fabricated. The boards came square, and I had to use my Rotozip and Dremel tools to cut them out (see picture). The uncut board shows the top layer, and the cut board shows the bottom layer.

There are 20 LEDs attached, and the speed is adjustable. They're on Ebay here. You can also check out the video here .

Here are some cool UFO lights from Dimension Engineering. One is a called the Sinewinder and is a chase light with a slight tail and the others are Fireflies that slowly turn on and off like real lightning bugs. Several of these combinations with madean's Jupiter 2 LED ring and wand lights would look like a UFO for sure!

I was just curious to know if anyone else is using ElWire for there lighting configuration. If so, how do you like it and what color did you get?

Koop

Hi Koop,
I'm using glow wire ... which looks like the same stuff on my modded X-3D X-UFO ... the only problem that I'm having is the weight of the potted 9-12V driver is a bit heavy for my x-ufo ... info and video here ... http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=4993905

The El Wire is definitely more intense than the Laser Laces fiber lighting that I have tried. The good thing about Laser Laces is that they are powered by their own batteries and are very light in weight. The downside is that they are just not bright enough beyond 50+ ft.
