I'm new to this hobby and looking into an upgrade from my basic 4 ch futaba.

I was considering the 8103, 9c, and Eclipse w/spectra.

As I understand it, the new version of Eclipse with PCM will be out soon. Any idea when?

What about cost?

I think i'm taking the 8103 out of the running simply because JR has a new transmitter coming out soon, and if I go JR, I'll have to wait longer... (Can't buy now with the new model around the corner)

The 9C seems like a good value for and a lot of features. I'm eager to see how the PCM version of the Hitec product compares price wise to the Futaba. I'm sticking with FM for now while I'm learning, but want to go PCM when I build my warbird...

Thanks for any information you are able to provide.

We should see them in Jan, but be aware that you can upgrade the existing Eclipse in the in future with the "Q"PCM software.

You didn't comment on price, I assume that was intentional, So I'll keep it to relative costs:

any idea of how the cost of the upgrade will compare to the cost diference between the PCM and non PCM version?

I don't know yet. There is talk that the upgrade with the new receiver would be around $100.

fair enough... $100 with a receiver sounds like a winner to me...
