Glad to see the weights helping out a bit. The T-rex is just too agile for its own good!!

I expected mine to be that twitchy from hearing such comments so I started out with a single 1/16” wheel collar drilled out to fit the flybar and my results are just like the others nice and tame. That was a good post that was made earlier about using negative expo. Positive expo makes it faster around the center.

With a Futaba radio, but positive expo makes it slower to respond around center with JR radios.

We still have not had a chance to fly the T-Rex again since installing the wheel collars. Maybe tomorrow.

Yeah, yeah Andy. Thanks for rubbing it in. LOL. What made you decide to go SE on the T-Rex? I was wondering since with the R50's we always tell everyone to get the standard kit.

We have one Trex that is the standard CCPM XL kit and now I have built one from scratch with all the goodies. I fly Raptor 50's and even a 90SE, and when I laid my hands on the Trex I had to have one of my own. Yes it is more touchy than my 90 but that helps me when I go back to the 90. The tail pushrod leaves alot to be desired on the Trex. There is alot of room for binding. Take alot of time to make everything super free with absolutely no binding. We are running 401 gyros and EFlight S-75 servos. Now both Trex's have Align 430 motors, 3550 KV. In my opinion the Trex is the ONLY micro heli to own.

Good question Chris. The cool factor for one.

Also everything I have read everyone is upgrading this and that so I figured just get it jacked up to start with and be done with it. Looking forward to a few flights at the end of the work day around the dead end or behind the building at lunch. And chasing the cats around the yard sounds like just too much fun to be true.

Andy, or should I say moderator, I thought we already determinedd that you were cool. You didn't need an SE for that, LOL.

I agree that most here and on RR seem to upgrade a lot of parts, I still have to wonder if most of the reason is "the cool factor". I keep thinking about the comment from everyone at the LHS which is to not buy the SE. They say the HDE and the CDE fly just fine and I can upgrade as I break parts if I choose to. Course I don't plan to break a lot of parts either. I don't make a habit of crashing.

In fact I was just reading a thread on RR about glitching were the discussion had led to the possibility of the plastic bearing blocks being better than the aluminum with respect to interence. They also considered the carbon frames. Really is was a discussion of why does the SE seem to have more glitches. A lot of ideas were thrown around and some made sense.

I have both types and much prefer the SE over the CDE. The metal parts makes it easy to rid binding and it looks great. Most helis end up with some measure of metal anyways...usually in mechanics, the aluminum has form and function.

The SE glitches more because of the frame, which is a big carbon antenna.
Electric helis produce a lot of electrical noise. The SE frame amplifies and
randomizes this noise. I love my HDE

Alright now. Granted I don't fly much compared to some of you(unfortuantely), but I crash very little. Man talk about busting my nads. I'm not feelin' the love here, LOL

I hope the T-Rex will help to resolve this a bit. I get a fair amount of flying time on my Eflite Ultimate so we'll see.

Ya know I love my Raptor 50, it's so much fun to fly. However, I get to the field so little I have been considering selling it. I don't really want to and my wife is totally against selling it, but it's kind of an expensive decoration. 50 or so flights in 15 months is sad IMO.

Electrical noise is the problem, not the carbon. It is magnified in the carbon frame. It is usually from a metal to metal rubbing/grinding,static build-up in the tail belt, not properly grounding the frame, etc. Nothing wrong with a carbon frame, just need to know how to set one up. Plastic or composite frames mask problems that should be addressed that can lead to a lock out.
