I use the blue loctite because it comes apart a little easy then the red. I don't want any screws stripping. that is the worst, I would rather lose a screw then drill one out.

yeah, it's not too nice to have to do that, i don't think there is anywhere i'd use red threadlock besides the center CV driveshafts and maybe the clutch nut, all i have now is blue though

I wouldn't even use red there... they don't have to hold too much... they're not carrying a lot of weight... blue has been just fine for me so far... haven't lost a single one after I loctited...

I have to agree, BLUE is the way to go IMO cause its easy if you put it back together after fixing something and then it stuffs up and ya have to pull it down again. But RED for the drive shafts etc.

I use only blue (med) threadlocker, imo there is no need for red unless you like stripping screws trying to remove them. Like smicko said, the only place red treadlocker could possibly be nesessary is on driveshafts, and for me blue works just fine for this also...

for the muggy flathead screws that hold the servo tray on, i stripped the faces of 3 of those, and lost two stand offs with blue thread lock, from that i learned to put the screw through the chassis, then put thread lock on it, then screw it into the stand off, or just use a tiny bit of thread lock

After 6 gallons of nitro I finally had a grub screw fall out, I noticed it when a guy I had been smoking earlier was laying waste to me no matter how hard I tried, it took about 2 turns to figure it out

Guys...it has become apparant that the factory did not loctite (thread lock) any screws. I have heard numerous people say that they are dropping their front drive shaft b/c the set screw did not have loctite on it. Has happened twice to me today. Have also had a tire go flying off.

LOCTITE YOUR SCREWS!

Im new to rc and wondered what u mean by loctite(ing) screws as i am getting a lst2 this is a concern. also what parts should i re-enforce as i am a serious basher... well i was untill i destroyed my last rc car (nitro sport) but that was my fault lol 20ft jump with diesel engine oil in shocks (bows head in shame) well i was in a hurry! anyway any ideas ppl!!?!?!?!

you should always make a habit out of checking your screws before and after you bash it .......

If you Use Red, Just remember to Heat it up (Solder Iron/Heat Gun/ lighter) before You Try to Remove the Screws

Stainless looks cool and will resist corrosion but they were always too soft for my liking. I''ve been using HexHeads Hex screws on my R/C for years. I started out buying the conversion kit but now I just buy the common LST sizes in quatities of 100. The are heat treated and machined. Not very many screw places advertise their Rockwell hardness (43) and tensile strength (177,000 psi) on their website.

I know this is probably dumb of me. BUT
Machining a screw is not the best way to make a screw, cold heading and thread rolling is. otherwise your cutting valuable strength away from the screw, whereas when you coldhead and then roll them when coldheading it the molecular structure of the screw is changed and it is very linear and then when ''rolled the threads are pressed into the shank making even stronger screws, then they go to heat treating and coating = the best screws. but thats just geek. anyway Loctite the screws.

2d your still cool.

My dad and I were running our trucks today and his head screws on his aftershock vibrated loose what a crappy ride we had to work on his truck constantly but my tmaxx just kept on running. Was making him a little mad. So I told him tomorrow we would go through the whole thing real good with some blue loctite and get it right for him. I hate seeing him not enjoy it. But it is a cool truck its just a shame a losi product would be released to the public with such an issue. I expected a lot more out of his losi than my maxx honestly.

I recently bought a Mega Baja and have since bent the top chassis, broke the side rails, and bent a couple screws. Anyway, as I was taking parts off to transfer to the new chassis, I noticed my drive outputs and a few other places are loc-tited, as well as the motor mounts. It's red loc-tite too. At first I attempted to take them off with the tools they provide, and I ended up twisting the wrench instead of unscrewing the screw or stripping it lol. I have some stronger tools incoming, but I just thought I'd let you guys know that Losi is putting it on from the factory.

I just picked up aLST 2 today, I went through it iwth a fine tooth comb, enerything was loctited as I would have expected. The only extra thing I did was to heat shrink the outer CVD, it keeps the pin from falling out if the set screw comes loose.

I think the truck was very well put together.

Awesome!
Mine was built very well, but as with every RTR, check every screw every run especially for the 1st couple of gallons, some will be loose.
My grubs were nicely threadlocked in by Losi I use liberal amounts of blue, and its never failed me yet

What is the best/easy way to loctite these driveshaft screws? Other is easy to do because you can reach it well but the one(see left picture) on the other end is almous impossible without big demolition You can´t reach it because the bottom plates are on the way.....
Problem is that my kids take almous all of my time at the moment so.......not much time to play with my truck

Unfortunately, as I have discovered recently, you will have to remove the CVD's and strip them. Just unscrew the grub screw a turn or two and the cross pin will be free and the joint will come apart for cleaning and re-locking.
