Status: offline 		Guys...it has become apparant that the factory did not loctite (thread lock) any screws. I have heard numerous people say that they are dropping their front drive shaft b/c the set screw did not have loctite on it. Has happened twice to me today. Have also had a tire go flying off.

LOCTITE YOUR SCREWS!

Status: offline 		well i just bought a 200 piece stainless screw set on ebay i would have got titanium but my whole race atv career i used stainless for everything and had great results so i went with stainless for the lst and since im doing a ground up on it every screw and bolt will get replaced and ill lock tight all the metal to metal.......good thread suna!!

Status: offline 		Stainless looks cool and will resist corrosion but they were always too soft for my liking. I've been using HexHeads Hex screws on my R/C for years. I started out buying the conversion kit but now I just buy the common LST sizes in quatities of 100. The are heat treated and machined. Not very many screw places advertise their Rockwell hardness (43) and tensile strength (177,000 psi) on their website.

Status: offline 		I buy the 4-40X1/2, these hold the plates to the chassis rails and 4-40 x 5/8 these hold the ends to the bulks. It's very important to keep all of these tight. A split level multiplate chassis gets most of it's strength from the firm attachment of the plates to the rails. On my racer I check my screws between almost every qual and for sure before a 30 minute main, it takes just a few moments. I've never busted a chassis on the track......

Status: offline 		I'm not 2D, but yes, both LST2 and it's predecessor have the same screw requirements.

Status: offline 		I just checked the drive shaft set screws, all 4 were loose and not a hint of loctite from the factory. I'm glad I checked before starting the break in. The front one was only screwed in half way.

Status: offline 		At the end of the day these things are only built by humans, and those humans are allowed to make mistakes. Its unfortunate that its occured this occasion, but it isn't the first and it wont be the last.

My original LST had no such problems and each of the grub screws had been threadlocked in and screwed in very tight, as such I've never had a problem.
