I have installed the KS-95 canister into the fuse for my new ZDZ-80 RVJ. I must put all batteries pack (ignition+2x rx) in the tail to get balanced the CG at 3.5.

I do not how you can balance the CG at 3.5'' with the DA-100 but this super ZDZ-80 is heavy like a big rock in the nose of that plane... I am going to replace the Mejzlick 26x10 by NX wooden 27x10 prop. It should help.

Thanks for the info. Do you have any pictures from the front? Any airflow around the canister?

Thanks. Looks like you needed you make your own header? Is there airflow in the back of the canister?

I did my own header from KS parts and i opened the bottom of the fuse under the can, about 2''x4'' to let hot air going out.
I broke 3 headers in 10 flights because i used tig welding. Tig welding is to hot for thin KS SS parts and deforms the SS. I used a propane torch/silver rod with the KS parts the last time and it holds fine after 30 flights.

Mejzick 26x10 at 6740 RPM after 5 gallons , 32:1 oil Belray

I got this one in the box...about to get the ZDZ 80 for it. What size standoffs did you use??

Thanks,
Howie

I have the super ZDZ-80 RVJ not the ZDZ-80 RV. The super 80 has bigger footprints than regular one.

I built 1/2'' standoffs from red oak that give me 1/8'' clearance between backplate spinner and cowl.
This engine is very strong on KS-95 can. Mejzlick 26x10 at 6800 RPM warmed and 6900 cold. After 10 gallons of gas, i prefer the Biela 26x10 at 6500 for IMAC and the Mejzlik for 3D.

If I end up going with the zdz it will be the ZDZ-80 RVJ. How do you think this engine will perform with the supersonic pitts muffler?? What about vibration??I am currently torn between going with the new BME115 or the ZDZ-80RVJ. I know the BME more than doubles the engine investment...but something about a twin and the extreme power has me leaning towards the BME. Most of it hinges on how much I can get for my 25% planes. I have about another week to decide before the ZDZ rebate ends.

THanks for the standoff info.

See ya,
Howie

ZDZ-super 80 should be way plenty of power. I do not know about vibration, maybe someone else can help.

I do not have experience with the regular ZDZ-80 but i like so much the super ZDZ-80 RV-J that i bought another one!! It does not shake more than a 100CC twin. You may expect 6500-6600 RPM warm with supersonic muffler on Mejzlik 26x10

This engine use Tilotson carb and it's so smoooooooooooth. Remember that ZDZ have 80CC engines for many many years and they improved the design slowly every year. The super ZDZ-80 is bigger and heavier than RV. It might explain how they keep vibrations low.
Dont' forget to balance the blades and prop hub

I though the fun would begin with 50CC gassers with Tom's planes but after flying his 33% on super ZDZ-80, i sold my 28% Edge and DA-50. Now, I think the PARTY begins at 33% scale

My Extra weight 24 lbs, hovers at 1/4-1/3 throttle and i need no more than 50% throttle to do the intermadiate IMAC sequence (power needed only for 45 degree snap roll).
I would not hesitate to put that engine into 35% plane 25 lbs with a tuned pipe.

If you can afford the BME 110-115, go for it, it's a great engine but double price and not required for that plane.

Daniel
