Here is 1 way to reduce the noise without the restriction or HP loss.

In the years of the GM-- B O P 215 cu. in. engine, they just squeezed small dimples into the tail pipe for the entire length. Worked great. Too great. Not enough repairs. Stopped it a few years later.

Well, if I ever mount a GM slant six in one of my planes, I will keep that in mind!

I have no doubt the Flyquiet pipe will provide a DRAMATIC sound reduction, I just doubt the tuned pipe effect.

Wasn't the slant 6 a Mopar product? It wouldn't, therefore, work in your model.

ET, you're like the little kid that screams he doesn't like peas before he's even tried one. Put your money where your mouth is, get up off your wallet and spend the crummy $17.00 and try one. Mikesell and I have both seen the effects of these pipes and reported them IN THIS THREAD...And you still claim there's no evidence. A 25% thrust increase WITH THE SAME PROP indicates without any doubt a significant RPM increase.

You put this thing on...in line with the regular muffler...and got 25% power increase?

Or you took off the stock muffler?

Yes.
I'll refer you to posts # 11, 19, 78, 109 & 124. These are real-world results using the Fly-Quiet pipes attached to the factory muffler.

Geez guys. Why are you beating up on Easytiger? Sorry, but generalizations aren't enough for me either. When the opportunity presents itself, I'll run both of the pipes I have and get some firm numbers, but until someone gives firm numbers ANYBODY has the right to an opinion. ET hasn't been nasty about it and Ron doesn't advertise it as a power enhancing product. We seem to be jumping all over this and it doesn't deserve attention in this manner. The Flyquiet pipe does what it's advertised to do and appears to be a quality piece. It should be left at that unless there's FIRM numbers! Think about how Ron feels about the way this thread has degenerated. If it does more than he advertises, GREAT! If it does what he advertises, GREAT! Too many people like it for it to underperform. The way I see it, there's no way to lose. Unless we chase the old feller away. (mean that in a nice way RON!)

Hi I'm back:
I was going to introduce a brand new product Monday but just to have some fun let's do it this way. I will send a Fly Quiet product to Bruce Matthews and Clint McLintock (I have Bruce's address but not Clint's) and let them test the product. And next week if they like it I will advertise it on RCUNIVERSE. In a couple of weeks I hope to have another product for Arthur Dodd to test. If he can test it and feels it would be a good item then it will be advertised on RCU. After that we will have to see what is coming down the pike. Tomorrow the .15 - .25 size pipe for boats and planes will be put on RCU. One is a after muffler the other is true tuned pipe. The .30 - .46 size pipes will be put on tomorrow and one is a true tuned pipe on Arthur Dodd's Delta Arrow the other is a after muffler for helicopters. More things are to come.
Ron

Ron,
Thanks for the coming pipe. I'm still looking for the guy at our field who has a 32 Webra to replace the one I burned up on the Laser Arrow. If this keeps up I'll just have to brake down and buy a new one. Until then I can't test the pipe already in hand but will do so just as soon as I can. Also have a 25FX that may work almost as good if all else fails.

Ron. You said the Cox engines can use one of your pipes.

I looked the site over and did not see the Cox pipe. Is it there and what is the weight and price.

Thanks, Rich.

The Cox header and pipe weigh right at 1oz. I think the price was fifteen bucks +shipping.(?) It's a really great price. I wonder how he makes them. It's gotta be fairly easy since the material is costly. At any rate, I'm already going deaf, so it's a little painful to have the lil b*****ds screaming in my ear as I walk to the flight line. 'Nother words, they're CHEAP!

Thanks much Ron. I'll be sure to give it a good workout. Remember though that it takes a week to get to me. For something like this I'll even run them in the dark under a shelter to keep the rain away...

I'll be down in Puyallup for the Model Expo this Saturday but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can get out on Sunday for some testing of the first pipe. It'll be the very first chance I've had to try it what with the constant rain around here.
