Flyinghigh-the 13 tooth should be ok with that motor for light 3D. Take it slow and don't try to burn a hole in the air. A 12 tooth would give you a little less head speed but slightly more torque. I'm using the 430L with the 13 tooth in my Raptor.

Had to edit this-I got the torque and headspeed backwards

I will check your videos out tonight. I would try and help with the 430L but have no experience.

Thanks for tha advice and help.........

I am afraid to give any real help without hands on experience how that motor acts. I wouldn't want to tell you a pinion and have the motor bog causing a crash. I came into the game running the 430XL which is a very powerful motor.

No I certainly didn't I was just trying to get more airtime for your question to see if anyone would answer it with experience.

I am having problems with my Scorpion -8 V2 motor. I will hopefully go by and pick up some bearings for it and the -6 V2 motor today to see if that is it. I need to tear it down and make sure the motor shaft wasn't twisted or bent. Nice thing about it is they sell the crash kits for these motors. I was so desperate to fly Sunday I put two packs through it anyway I was 100% negative pitch at one point still descending and I thought for sure it was going to land on the blades. It didn't though about 3' from the deck it started to climb again. Confusing part is it is coming down absolutely cool to the touch as well as the CC45 ESC and batteries.

Hi there spinny heads,
'Nuther day off for me and I'm bein' a real goof off. Had a nice breakfast this mornin' at a neat little place that is set up like the old railcar diners. Had good ol' fashioned pancakes and sausage, big ol' glass of milk and listened to 50's & 60's music. Now I gotta gor for a run and burn off the sausage . Don't worry Jay, I'm not goin' alone. Two of the nurses I work with live here and have a nice place to go. Had a bunch of fun at the zoo yesterday and did a little runnin' around shopping. Jay, I found a really cool little sticker for your hot rod truck. It says "WARNING: At speeds exceeding 200 MPH do not open doors and windows".

Slingblade-Hi John. Sorry I haven't written for awhile. I'll get an e mail off to ya soon. Sorry to hear about your T Rex. Time ta git in there an' do a little fiddlin' with the tools now I guess. When I get my heli done I'll race ya around the park.

I love the way y'all keep me straight on things on here and don't let me get to overwhelmed with the learnin'. Reminds me of one of my professors at LSU. He was very paitient, easy spoken, funny and had a way of teachin' that made me feel like I was doin' good and didn't need to be stressed. You guys have the same qualities and it make all this easier. Thank you-thank you .

I'm takin' all the good advice on the radio part. I'll read to get the basics from the book and learn the hinkie parts as Jay and I apply them to my heli. I'm lookin' forward to seeing the Finless Bob videos. I have a feelin' though that I'm gonna enjoy this part too. I love learnin' and fiddlin' with all the medical gizmos at work. Just think, when they finally come out with r/c wheelchairs and gurneys I'm gonna be right on top of it all and look like a star at work. Ya think I'll get in trouble if I do an inverted hover with a paitient ???

Headin' out the door for that run-see y'all later

Keep your heads outa the trees.

I have stripped one a couple times then finally I burnt one out because I didn't realize it was striped while I was working on getting my pitch right. Couldn't figure out what the heck was going on then I smelt it.

They are the toughest I know of.

I think it would depend on the patient and certainly if you crashed. I keep wanting to 3D in the parking lot of HeliHobby warehouse Nikki told me go for it but over in the rear of the building. Just my luck I would lose control and hit someones car though.

Hi. I got my T-Rex SE v2 a few weeks ago and I am building it right now.
First of all I want to thank you all for all your help. I couldnt have gotten to this point without it.

I have a few questions I was hoping you could answer:
1. Is there any way of making sure the tail assembly is paralell to the main shaft? I eyed-balled it, and it looks straight, but I want to know if there is a different way of doing it.
2. How do you guys make those tail guides stay put in one place? Mine are very loose, and move with every servo input.
3. Do you use loctite in your tail blade screws? The manual doesnt say you should, but I dont like the idea of those screws coming loose.....
4. Do you use grommets on the tail servo? I am just using the washers for now. And do you use loctite of the screws that hold the servo?
5. Do you use loctite on the screw that holds the ball-link to the servo arm?
6. How do you stop the skies for spinning and moving back and forth?

I am sorry to be asking so many questions, but no one here flies this heli, so the forums are the only place where I can get help.
Sorry for my english, and thank you again for your help.

Manuel

I line the tail shaft up with the top of the boom block by eye. If you look at it sitting down it never looks right so just hold it up and eye ball it.

Right way is to slide a zip tie under the top side of it. You are basically wedging something in there. My way is a little dot of CA then I slide it forward on it.

YES you locktite your tail blade screws. You can put loctite in the threaded hole to keep it off the blades versus putting it on the screws which will get it in the blade holes. loctite is bad for plastic! Don't loctite the main blades screws they have nylon locking nuts.

4. Do you use grommets on the tail servo? I am just using the washers for now. And do you use loctite of the screws that hold the servo?

No I don't use gromets I use washers just like you so do most people. Be very sure to mount it straight and don't OVER tighten it. Yes use loctite. All metal to metal screws will have loctite.

5. Do you use loctite on the screw that holds the ball-link to the servo arm?

I use nutz on the back side of the servo horn with loctite on the nut.. Also remember to use loctite on your other balls too such as your swash and blade grips..

ORIGINAL: manumenzella04
6. How do you stop the skies for spinning and moving back and forth?

Slide the skids forward of where you want them. Put two little dots of CA then slide them back.

Sorry for my english, and thank you again for your help.

We don't mind questions we are glad to help. I didn't see one problem with your English.

Notes:
When you are loctiting you lever arms watch for the little washers. Also the pitch slider lever for your tail has little washers. Use a paper clip to dab loctite in the screw holes where you can. This keeps it out of the bearings and off the little washers. Let the loctite set before spooling up to keep it from slinging into the bearings.

Manuel,
I hope you understand that I just spent hours tweaking with helis. So I think it is my English that is in question!

Hi,
Thanks a lot for your quick response.
I will of course do all the things you said as soon as I can.
One last question:
What is that CA glue? I am not in the States, i live in Argentina. Do you know the complete name so I can try to find a place to buy it in this country?
Thanks again.
Manuel

Edit: nevermind, i found it. Cyanoacrylate
Thank anyway!

Manual,

I use CA on any screws going into plastic. Usually on the back side where the tip of the screw sticks out so it can't back itself out. Helismith is right about the rest.
