Hi

I have a futaba 6EXH with my TREX, and I'm thinking of changing it with at DX7; however, I'm not sure if DX7 is better than the Futaba Spread Spektrum. Also, DX7 functions looks overwelming, is it really hard to setup??

Thankx

Helifan

Helifan,

If you have setup other computerized radio's then I would say the DX7 is pretty easy. But I and others have DX7's and could help if you have a question.

I'm not sure if one works better than the other. I guess you would need to check with Finless or some other site.

how do you know if the receiver is good for which servo. for example, when i bought my 6EXH it came with servos, but if I want to use the DX7 for my trex450 and eventually a trex600 should i buy a different receiver that supports the servos for trex600??

Hi there,
Just one quick question:
When you put the pinion on the motor, there is no flat side on the axle.
Do you guys do anything to stop the pinion from spinning on the axle, or does the small screw work fine?
Thanks for your help,
Manuel

I use TINY little drop of green loctite near the top of the pinion. You will have to heat it with a soldering iron to get it off later but it won't fail on you. Blue loctite on the set screw.

They are both great radios. Here's a video for setting up a Trex 450 on DX7:

You can run almost any servo analog or digital. There are some new coreless servos that won't work on your receiver but other than that you are good. For example we all mostly run Hitec 65 servos on JR, Specktrum and Futaba receivers. List your servos I will look it up for you if you want.

the reciver will work with any servo ( I guess helismith knows some that don't work - special coreless servo's). I think the DX7 comes with an AR7000. However if you want the Trex to be at it's best you should use HS65's for the Cyclic.
The 600 probably uses a different more powerful full size servo for the cyclic. All you will need to do is buy another AR7000 for the TRex 600 along with servos and gyro and keep both birds running. Or you could buy a cheaper AR6100 and put it in the 450 and put the AR7000 in the 600.

The s9650 is the right servo to go with a gy401 for the tail on a 450 Trex.

Using other stuff will work but not as good.

600 servos:
JR8717, Futaba BLS451, Futaba S9452 , Futaba S9452, (Hitec HS-5626MG, Hobbico CS-160) = Same, Futaba S9255

450 servos:
Hitec 65, DS285 (develope slop "hearsay" , Hitec 56

I am not listing all the servos just the ones I have considered. Been a long time since I considered servos for a 450 since the HS65MG servos have lasted me crash after crash after crash. I did list those servos in order of consideration or the ones I like most are first.

P.S. JD is right I was thinking of tail servos. All cyclic servos will work with your receiver.

Hi there!
Just another quick question,
What glue do you use to fix the velcro to the battery or the frame?
Thank you for all your help!

Manny,

There is velcro tape that is actually tape. So just get that and some velcro straps to wrap around it too.

Hey heading holders,
Whoa, that was weird. Apparently Donica and I were both on and tried to post at the same time. I thohght we could do that but the system didn't seem to like it. My post came up with her account heading and in a bit mine dissappeared and hers came up.????? Must be because we both used the same computer to originally sign up on the forums. Something to do with an electronic ID maybe??? That's the first time we've both been on at the same time. I guess that isn't going to work. My post deleted itself so I had to start over again.

It has been a very stormy day in good ol' NE. Thunder boomers have been beating us up since about noon. It's now 12:30 am and it's still noisy and wet outside.

Got the new Faast radio from Helihobby today. It's one of them that the advisory from Futaba warns about. I called them today and they said that the problem is a very rare one and I don't need to do anything unless I'm flying near others with 2.4 systems and we notice that they interfere with each other. If they do they said to send it to them and they will either install the new software or replace the entire set. They only do this if you actually have a problem. So, I guess we'll use it and
