There are a considerable number of us who fly RC and refuse to become AMA members. The reasons are various. How do we go about getting our own sub heading in the forums.
thanks

John, Why bother. Outlaw as used by the AMA and it's shills should be discussed here. If, however, you do find a spot I'd like to know where you go.
Thanks Lou

I'm interested in what reasons you have for refusing to join AMA? All multi-millionaires that don't need or wouldn't like more cheap insurance? What else could there be?

Their basic reasons are, they do not like to be told how to do something they know they can do by themselves.
It may not be the AMA way. But at the end of a day of flying, they have had just as much fun, with the same amount of damage and injuries.
This is another battle of gaining control of others and all the hollering that comes from both sides during the process.
Till the Supreme Court says ONLY the AMA has control, drop a non- winable subject. Unless you believe in MOB RULE.
I have NEVER found either vocal group always right
The problem has always been getting the 2 groups putting the best ideas from each side into use.

Am I going to run for a OFFICE ?

Hey let me tell you guys something about this AMA insurabce thing. You are all vulnerable. AMA insurance is secondary to any insurance that the individule has. AMA will ALWAYS look for any possible way to deny the claim when EVER POSSIBLE.

As to this supposed coverage and clubs having insurance? BUNK... Our club has purchased its own LIABILITY INSURANCE easliy found through independent insurance agents in your area for 100 members for 159.00 per year and that also covers the land owner from liability and covers his crops and the crops of adjoining acreage. Oh, and one more thing... THAT insurance is PRIMARY COVERAGE. That means the our LIABILITY COVERAGE kicks in BEFORE the individules home owners or renters insurance UNLIKE AMA's.

The Club insurance also covers any site where we fly... indoors... outdoors... or in space.... Check on that AMA insurance... if you want to put on a Club fun fly outside of your AMA chartered field... you have to get the event sanctioned by AMA nad pay an additional fee. That is over and above the fees that the club pays to be chartered in the first place... Now I ask you. Do you like paying for a governing body that is supposed to be watching out for its members, when by all accounts, they spend most of the time looking out for themselves and their (AMA's) pocketbooks. Until the time that I was forced into dealing with AMA, I thought they were looking out for the members. Experience has taught me otherwise.

AMA is just a self (member) imposed government. No better than the situation that we are in with the AMERICAN Government. What the members (tax payers) dont know can only benefit us (The government and AMA) If we have to lie, cheat, or mislead to line our pockets, ( Government Officials and AMA) so be it.

Why not join AMA? I have a hard time selling

What you say is probably all true. I can't check it out.
But you bring up something that we can not get around.
To fly at AMA club fields you need membership.
Or is there a way around that, if we have private $1,000,000 insurance or whatever amount?
-
I was going to check if my Home Owners policy would add a rider and how much cost. Same as anything else being insured ???
-
Thanks for opening up the AMA subjects to discuss.

65chevy,

I think what you are describing is a sef-licking ice cream cone. Of course I do not belong to the AMA so don't much care what their rules and policies are. Like most outlaw flyers I own my flying field and have the use of another 100 acres of flying field and my fellows here are allowed to use the municipal airport when we wish.
My I ask where is Pardee Village, MO If it is close you are welcome to fly at my field anytime maybe we could organize a real free fun fly

What topics would be discussed in an "Outlaw" forum? Or do you just want a place where you can pat each other on the back for being renegades?

This is true with all insurance companies. That's how it works. They are more than willing to collect your monthly premium however, aren't they?

This is why the for-profit insurance industry is immoral.

Actually if you knew what you were talking about you'd know AMA's insurance provider doesn't try to get out of paying what they are responsible for. They are responsible for a heck of a lot less than most people assume but they, as are most carriers, are not interested in incurring a bad faith judgement and pay up what they are legally responsible for.

Have any of you guys noticed how much b******g and complaining there is on the AMA posts? This forum area makes RC'ing depressing. It's bad enough that I've got cabin fever due to that fact that it's winter out there! I'm going back to my basement and build something before I get sucked into this HUGE black hole in rcuniverse.

Hey there lnjfarms,
I am not actually in Mo. It started out as an inside joke. " Show me where the party is... Pardeeville!" Then that mutated into Pardeeville MO. cause Mo. is the "Show me state"
I am actually near the Minnesota Border.

Basin,
I'm guessing that they want to have a gathering place to talk about their planes or perhaps how to have their own fields with the luxury of implementing their own rules and regs. I find this to be an interesting thought. My vision is something like the Sepulveda Basin where people and families can go without the AMA looking over their shoulders. And I know. There is nothing like the Basin. But the thought of more like it is a good thought.
The tuff part is that the AMA has been a big part of getting flying clubs. It took a lot of patience and even more time.
Outlaw, any thoughts about my rambling?

I hear ya Lou but I'd never step foot on the Basin without AMA membership. In fact the Basin probably wouldn't still be around if not for the City being covered during sanctioned events which allows the clubs to stay active and maintain the place.

Discussing flying sites and rules is a possible topic of conversation I suppose but anything else is already covered by the existing forums. If they want to bash AMA this is the appropriate place as well. It might be a good idea for a new forum, I'm just asking for
