In this country it is hard to comes across a 110.

The Saito 125 is much simpler and should give you better service in the years to come.

Enjoy,

Jim

Happy New Year All!

The engines in question here probably have a good 8 oz. weight difference between them? I don't have exact numbers, but that's quite a bit for a 9 1/2 lb plane. If you need nose weight. the YS would be a better choice.

In my book, the jury's still out on the new Saito 125. I see in the Tachometer Readings Forum that this engine is swinging a APC 16 x 6 @ 9000 on 30%. Respectable, but these numbers are below average for the that size displacement IMO. May be improper break-in or a dud off the assembly line? I'm still waiting for others to post their readings.

were still waiting for some true readings of a brokenin- well tuned 125, and when the numbers come in i think they will be a little better than what were seeing now, and you will not need 30%, i hope

APC 16x6 @ 9000 on 30% is well below the readings for the YS 110FZ on the same prop and fuel. Even if the Saito 125 manages to gain another 300 rpm after being well broken in, it's still below what the YS 110 would put out.

I agree with you Richard. Power to weight ratio would be very respectable with the Saito 125. The 125 would make an excellent power plant for the 3D profile stuff.

I noticed the original thread title here is FA 150 vs YS 110. Probably a more a suitable comparison both weight and power wise. I've owned many Saito's so I would tend to lean toward the YS 110 just to experience this baby.

A YS 1.10 will spin a 17-6APC over 9,000 on 30%. Match that.

Even though a 1.10 is close to the 1.50 for HP especialy on 30%, why not compare a YS 1.40. I think you would find that the 1.40 would spank it and probaly the 1.80 too.

Why not a YS .53 to a Saito 2.20?

Don't the comparisons start kinda lop sided low in the CI's too. I have heard the little .63 runs right with the Saito .82 and then some. Why not a YS 1.40DZ or 1.60DZ compared to the Saito 1.50, 1.80, and 2.20 (did you bring any kleenix). The YS .91 will spank the Saito .91 & 1.00, and the YS 1.10 spanks the Saito 1.25 and comes realy close to Saito 1.50. Why not comapre the Big YS'S against the big Saito's so we can settle this once and for all.
But when the YS 1.70 is realeased it will start over again, because there allways going to be people who think that there sport Saito is going to run with a YS.

I would say the saito 125 would be a good choice for the 4.3kg scale plane. Its not going to beat the ys 110 though.

I've had an over weight cg extra 300 at 4.75kg with an os 120 SII-e on 15/8 apc and it flew very very respectably, no 3d though.

Also had an cg Ultimate at 3.85kg with ys 120 sc on 16/8 apc. It flew like a bat out of hell.

So, if your scale job isnt going to do 3d, I would go for the saito for its weight advantage and relative simplicity, since its going to be overpowered anyway.

I agree with the rest that the ys110 will spank the saito125. But if the applied project is overpowered anyway with either or; who cares which. Choose your own poison.
