Hartar, sounds like your doing pretty good. I keep making stupid mistakes. Last nite I decided to try about 10 feet, another stupid mistake, but it was thrilling !!! Naturally, I pulled the throttle back too far, so im off to the LHS in Redding for more parts. LOL Keep up the good work !!! Dennis

As I stated previously it is around $180+shipping kinda pricey but I like it now after some modifications. http://www.helihobby.com/html/hornet_super_head.html

Ace,

Here is, apparently, another one, this one from MS Comosites:

How does this one look?

OOPS! From the photograph, this one looks like it is Hiller/Collective only.

What do you guys think of this?... set up a power line to the heli just for hovering practice.. The idea is use a large 12 volt 7Ah hobby battery (or larger) hooked to the heli power connecting via speaker wire... like 30ft of wire to allow plenty of room.. I could use a resistor in the wire to step down the the voltage to 11volts if need be.. I would keep the normal battery on the heli as weight to keep the flight characteristics the same.. I know the wire would affect the flight characteristics to a certain extent, but think of how much time you would have. I would be able to practice hovering 10-15min and stop and let the motors cool for awhile then start back up without having to wait for the batteries to recharge... I got the idea from a hovering toy that I have called a Vectron Blackhawk.. if you haven't heard of it, its little ufo looking thing that hovers around the room and you control it with a remote control connected to it by a wire. It gets its power through that wire as well and you plug the controller into the house plug. Just a thought.. what do you think?

Well I thought of the same thing about 2 months ago, and I did it, I used a 9.6v out of a cordless drill, It seemed to work but for some reason my rx quit powering the tail motor, after about 1 min, That was the end of that rx, Who knows, It might just be a fluke cause the electronics on my dragonfly are cheap, Introducing new power can cause an unstable component to go bad, Evan if it is close to the same. Its a gamble.

If the helicoter was really docile, like the older tethered version of the Hirobo coaxial, maybe. I would not want to try to restrain a 22E at the end of a tether-this is a recipe for disaster, if you are learning.

You also want to let the motors and electronics cool down between flights anywa.

I agree with clem, not only may it end the life of the components, The wire will cause you to sway, and send you out of control, Up to you though, I would just get another battery.
