Hartar, sounds like your doing pretty good. I keep making stupid mistakes. Last nite I decided to try about 10 feet, another stupid mistake, but it was thrilling !!! Naturally, I pulled the throttle back too far, so im off to the LHS in Redding for more parts. LOL Keep up the good work !!! Dennis

Is there an effect like the plt, and pzt on the spektrum?

freeonthree -> RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk (1/26/2006 10:45 PM)

I am not familiar with the Spectrum... can't answer that...

Nitrofever3D -> RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk (1/26/2006 10:48 PM)

How much was the metal ace??

acebusa -> RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk (1/26/2006 11:47 PM)

As I stated previously it is around $180+shipping kinda pricey but I like it now after some modifications. http://www.helihobby.com/html/hornet_super_head.html

Ace,

Here is, apparently, another one, this one from MS Comosites:

How does this one look?

OOPS! From the photograph, this one looks like it is Hiller/Collective only.

What do you guys think of this?... set up a power line to the heli just for hovering practice.. The idea is use a large 12 volt 7Ah hobby battery (or larger) hooked to the heli power connecting via speaker wire... like 30ft of wire to allow plenty of room.. I could use a resistor in the wire to step down the the voltage to 11volts if need be.. I would keep the normal battery on the heli as weight to keep the flight characteristics the same.. I know the wire would affect the flight characteristics to a certain extent, but think of how much time you would have. I would be able to practice hovering 10-15min and stop and let the motors cool for awhile then start back up without having to wait for the batteries to recharge... I got the idea from a hovering toy that I have called a Vectron Blackhawk.. if you haven't heard of it, its little ufo looking thing that hovers around the room and you control it with a remote control connected to it by a wire. It gets its power through that wire as well and you plug the controller into the house plug. Just a thought.. what do you think?

acebusa -> RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk (1/27/2006 2:16 AM)

Well I thought of the same thing about 2 months ago, and I did it, I used a 9.6v out of a cordless drill, It seemed to work but for some reason my rx quit powering the tail motor, after about 1 min, That was the end of that rx, Who knows, It might just be a fluke cause the electronics on my dragonfly are cheap, Introducing new power can cause an unstable component to go bad, Evan if it is close to the same. Its a gamble.

Ah Clem -> RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk (1/27/2006 2:34 AM)

If the helicoter was really docile, like the older tethered version of the Hirobo coaxial, maybe. I would not want to try to restrain a 22E at the end of a tether-this is a recipe for disaster, if you are learning.

You also want to let the motors and electronics cool down between flights anywa.

acebusa -> RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk (1/27/2006 5:24 AM)

I agree with clem, not only may it end the life of the components, The wire will cause you to sway, and send you out of control, Up to you though, I would just get another battery.

freeonthree -> RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk (1/27/2006 6:10 AM)

I need to teather mine with a brick, so I can't take off and crash. Just repaired the VNR3D again. Waiting for the TX to charge so I can check the blade tracking. I just replaced the see saw, and blade grips. Now I have spare blade grips, but they only had 1 see saw left. Rats !!! I better practice more carefully this time. I have depleated All Around Hobbies of all their Venon Night Ranger 3D parts, and there in my waste basket... I should enter a helicopter demolition derby, I would probably win !!! Dennis (back in the running)

tigermike82 -> RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk (1/27/2006 6:31 AM)

Ah Clem,
Don't give Ace any help, we have a bet on how long it will take him. A set of blades I believe, right Ace.
I leave for Italy on Sat. and return the next Sat. If he is not hovering hands free by then, he owes me!!
I'll check in here to see how it is going.
Mike

acebusa -> RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk (1/27/2006 8:58 AM)

Not a problem Mike, I will be up and flying, and awaiting a new set of blades!

freeonthree -> RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk (1/27/2006 9:02 AM)

My VNR3D is fixed and I have 2 runs down. 1 more and im goin to bed. Im shakeing like the front fender on a Harley with a fouled plug. I hate crashing...

acebusa -> RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk (1/27/2006 9:06 AM)

Its easier to sleep if you quit while you are ahead! Just a suggestion.[;)]

freeonthree -> RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk (1/27/2006 9:21 AM)

Good point... is it ok to leave it charged over night, and then just top it off ??? But I just reduced my gyro gain, and I have to see if it fixed the tail giggle. LOL Of course, I could check that real quick and leave it until tomorrow. I gotta know...

acebusa -> RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk (1/27/2006 9:30 AM)

Good luck, I hope all goes well! I just cant wait to get mine in the air again, E.F.D. (Estimated Fly Date) Wed of next week, Than mike will owe me a pair of blades! I get a doubble wammy, get to fly, and new blades!!![:D]

freeonthree -> RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk (1/27/2006 9:35 AM)

Nothin wrong with that... Im a long way from hoovering I beleive, but I will keep working at it. Im workin on breaking that throttle habit I have. (drop like a rock syndrome) LOL

freeonthree -> RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk (1/27/2006 10:26 AM)

Even with my adjustment, the tail still twitches a little. I'll deal with it tomorrow. Anyway, I ran the charge out, and I didn't hit nothin, so I guess I did pretty good. Like they used to say, "little tiny steps". Hope ya get your parts fast and get back at it... I'll keep the blades spinning for you...

acebusa -> RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk (1/27/2006 6:13 PM)

Thanks, Good job on not crashing last night! Keep it up.[8D]

hartar -> RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk (1/27/2006 6:37 PM)

I crashed yesterday and broke a blade holder... getting good at fixin this thing! keeping things together with epoxy(JB Weld is my friend :-).. probably need to buy that stuff by the gallon!... There is nowhere nearby to get parts.. I have to order off the web and pay those dreaded shipping charges... I generally wait till I need several items before I go that route.. Just pulling a MacGyver whenever I can...someone once told me something about flying...when you get in trouble, you generally run out of ideas about the same time you run out of altitude..[;)]

Ah Clem -> RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk (1/27/2006 6:46 PM)

Dennis,

What are you charging overnight? If it is ni-cads or Nimh's in the TX, that is good, if it is the flight battery on the machine, that is bad.

If the nose is twitching back and forth, increase the PZT setting slightly until it goes away. This will add pitch, relative to the throttle setting, and will get rid of the twitch. Chris from Venom suggested this.

By the way, mine twitches for the first minute or so of every battery pack, until the surface charge wears off.

It sounds like you are making great progress!

As far as the shaking goes (you, not the machine), I had to get over this again when I started rolling again about three months ago after a 12 year layoff.

walterpug -> RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk (1/27/2006 7:08 PM)

Hey there fellas,
I just got a 22e and just charged the batteries. The manual said to do an initial charge of 2 hrs. Went to unplug the battery and it was hot........REALLY FREAK'N HOT!. How long are your charging the "stock/original" batteries?

hartar -> RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk (1/27/2006 7:19 PM)

I generally charge mine till the battery gets warm.. I am just taking that from other models that I've had in the past.... Its not good for the battery to get real hot..plus when you drain the battery from flying, you're not suppose to recharge it until it cools down..

walterpug -> RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk (1/27/2006 8:27 PM)

Thanks Hartar. Good tip. Do you find that about an hour of charge is enough?

Also, I an an absolute chopper vergin. I bought a Walkera #10 and a 22E V2. Having a lot of fun with the #10 hovering and a little Forward flight.....Works good! But, the 22E has me a little puzzled. I am trying to figure out the trimming. It seems to me that alot of people are trying to get the trim right while on or within 6 inches of the ground. I would think that the ground effect would push you all over the place anyway. On my first flight I noticed that it wants to go to the left fairly agressivly. I trimmed the TX all the way right and have to counter a little bit still. Swash place and everything else looks level. I was however able to hover about 12" high over a 30 x 30 foot room. SCARY! to say the least. A couple of times I it was comeing after me like a jelous husband. Anyone have any tips on a good steps for learning. Oh yeah, I would like to get the cable to use the SIM (didn't come with) Is it a standard connection (Radio shack) or what?
