tommy, i dont have alot of experience with the questions you asked. However i will do my best. From what i have heard the king 2 is a nice little helicopter, but honestly i dont think it is much of an upgrade. Maybe the Belt CP would be a better choice. I have been lead to believe you cant store LiPo batteries with full charge, they have to be discharged. If it were me i wouldnt consider putting the 1500 battery in this heli. Even if you could it would be to heavy and work the tail to hard and would fly crap. As for a motor, if you really want to get brushless then could i suggest this. You will need an 8 tooth pinion to slow the head speed down but it will provide good power and if you were to get the King it will be ideal for that. The one quoted would be good for the 22e but not great for the King 2. If brushless is the route you going to take then you will need a "Y" connector which means you have to connect power to the 4 in 1 and the b/l esc as you mentioned, see pic, it is not what you need but shows the wire layout. A BEC from what i understand is not applicable to this heli as it has a motor driven tail and the BEC would provide insufficient power for that. So to answer your question no it will not protect the 4 in 1 from similar mishaps. Hope this info helps

Heliaction, Tommy...

Also, if I may add...the Belt CP comes with the Brushless 450 motor, ESC and big battery (not to mention lots of other goodies)

You'd have it all there in a funtional and reliable package...ready to go. Also, the Belt CP is cheap for what it is...my package was $220 and with that package I got bonus training gear and simulator plus simulator cables and adapters. So, if you wanted to go with one of those I can help with that one. Also, if you wanted to go with the Belt CP, there is a forum similar in size and content to this one on RCU.

When I was looking for my heli upgrade I had the "Copter X" recommended to me as a good choice aswell. Clone of the T-Rex but what, quarter of the price??

Are you looking at buying one of eBay?

Tom

PS - "ready to go"....unless you do what I did with it

Cenracer kinda funny....mine was a gift from my wife as well. I was looking at a different one after doing much reading, but she caught the 22e in my bookmarks and got it. LOL! I was not disappointed I was eager to give it a go, just a little cautious because I had read they are not so easy to learn on. I am real close to $300 on the 22E (rtf +parts+wrong batts) I don't know if thats a little or a lot...but it feels like a lot considering I got one hover out of it so far.....a little bad luck combined with lack of know how is what has happened in my case.

ooops In explanation I was asking everyone about a route to take if I kept the 22 (I do have that sweet head on it and 90% of another sweet head for a spare) Hence the replies by Heliaction and Tom

sorry guys I was editing that post while yall were answering all those questions.....I am just torn about it all a bit. I hate giving up on ANYTHING I start....sometimes that bullheaded attitude has caused me xtra grief tho[)]

Thx Heliaction that clarified things for me quite a bit!!!! thank you very much. I was aware that 3100 would be weak on the king...I thought it might be good on the 22 and much cheaper then the walkera combo. Also do I understand you right....are you saying those 1500's would be too big on the king with a brushless setup?

Tom I would like to have both....I just don't know if I can convince my kids to quit eating so I could afford both!!! I am watching a 22e with brushless setup on Ebay with carbon blades ....crud did I say that out loud??!!!!!

Yes I am looking at the belt as well. With the limited funds avaliable at the moment the King and the Belt look like my two best choices if I want to get something new in the air. King I have priced at $120 RTF, BeltCP $169 RTF if I remember right. As far as where I will buy one...whoever has the best price+ship combination on that day I rekon.

Well I better go hit the rack and sleep on it....gotta go work some more tommorow to make some money to finance all this madness LOL!

Oh and just one other bit of advice I can give for the Belt CP is that the Belt handles wind better than the King 2. I got this from a comparsion thing that one of the guys had going in the Belt CP threads. So, if you do decide to starve your kids and buy a second heli I'd go for the Belt CP out of the two heli's.

Tommy, I'm trying to fuse what I learnt from my car experiences into the RC helicopters. When I was younger I was into boosting cars. I tried to modify old cars and make them more powerful and better and it cost me a fortune. For every extra horsepower gained the car would become less reliable (but more powerful).
In the end I got sick of the money I wasted. I realized what I was doing and decided to buy a car that would solve the issue. I ended up buying a stock Skyline GTR that didn't need any modifications. You don't have to throw money at it as it's already good and has reliable power. (you could have used a number of other cars as an example there - dont wanna start anything lmao)

This is what I immediately done with the 22E. I saw that it's something you can throw endless money at in modifications and not really get very far. It will remain a walkera helicopter lol! So, straight away (before I could even fly well) I bought a proper 6ch 3d helicopter...in my case a E-sky Belt CP which offcourse isn't the GTR of rc helicopters but it's a big leap forward for me in the right direction. Every dollar spent in trying to improve the 22E has instead gone into buying the Belt CP. The Belt CP (or honey bee king 2 for you) are heli's that don't really need any modifications as they're already fantastic mid-range choppers. (opinions may vary on this forum depending on individual experiences - but these are just my two cents worth).

Maybe you could take this on board when you're making your decision??? It's a hard one. Naturally you want to make the 22E better. Just giving you some points FOR upgrading -) I can't think of any for 'AGAINST' upgrading.

...except maybe that your kids wont starve!!

Tom

Tommis great words, i fully second his explanation on upgrades.

Tommy, the King 2 will accommodate a 11.1v 1500mah 15c battery and so will the Belt which i believe is alot better of the 2.

I just took a good look at that copterx.....WOW! If it flies as good as it looks......man thats cheap!!!

Well I have already upgraded the 22 with the head.....but yea I agree with you on the upgrades as well. I will probably be working 7 days a week for the next couple of months....surely I can sneak a bit O cash out of that for a new bird setup.

Have a beauty day fellas
