PhillyD,

This guy on ebay is pretty reliable. I get all my parts from him and he takes about 5 to 7 days or so to mail stuff. Usually a bit quicker.

Got the link there going straight to the 800mah batteries for Walkera. Could find cheaper though...like the store "Goodlucksell"....that's where I got my Belt-CP from.

Tom

Yeah I did actualy follow that, can fly on the ground even, but as soon as add throttle to left chest hieght...lookout lol. I just put it down to a bit heavy thumbed on my part and read a FP heli seems to be a popular stop gap between coaxal and CP. I know practice makes perfect but not being a natural at this its seems I've bitten off more than I can chew but I'll tackle RADDS a bit more, there could even be something in set up I've missed. cheers

sounds like a setup and a bit of inexperience.. All heli's tend to go to the left on liftoff.. thats just the way they are.. I give a little right pitch on takeoff and it goes straight up.. hovers right where I want it to.. any wind will effect the heli, so maybe find a large indoor area if you can.. It shouldn't jump off the ground either.. If it does, your pitch may be off.. I originally tried to use a pitch guage when setting up my Heli, but now I just do 0 pitch at off and around 5-7 degrees at takeoff speed.. its a smooth transition with the pitch.. You can check it with the motors unplugged... I would guess it would go to about 10 degrees at full throttle, although I've never been there yet..LOL
went flying again this morning and a bit in the afternoon... had alot of fun and all was fine.. Had one of my batteries fail today.. wouldn't charge but flew fine... put it on the charger and it said it was dead.. checked voltage and one of the cells was reading zero thru the taps.. but overall checked fine thru the main plug.. I had my friend look at it, He is an electrical engineer.. He found that one of the tap plugs, (yellow) was disconnected inside the battery.. we took it apart and I had him solder it back together.. He has more experience with a soldering iron.. rewrapped the battery and its charging fine as I write this... I will order a few more batteries, but I hate losing even one.. I think it broke during the motor failure the other day and I didn't notice it..

Hey Guys,

Yeh I'm finally back up in the air! I bought that vice and on went the pinion gear for the rear motor. I hovered once or twice in the living room and then off I went to the cricket oval. I flew both batteries in a light breeze....took me a while to get back into the swing of things. Tomorrow morning I want to practice some forward flights that I have been doing on the flight sims over the last couple of weeks - so wish me luck with that!

I might have to invest in one more battery as well....i might go for a 1000mah one or something this time round. Sometimes conditions are soooo nice out there that it's a real pitty when you have to pack up cos you have just used the last battery!

Dodgemcopter....practice is the answer to it all. When I started flying my 22E I read, read and read more...all the stuff in this forum about the 22E's. I've kept a video diary of my first flights - they're pretty funny! Just hopping around on living room carpet taking babysteps!
It's a combination of helicopter tuning, experience and skill that gets you flying well. I put a lot of effort in tuning the heli right - it really makes it fly so much better! Let us know how you go with it - I sure did lol! Especially about all my crashes - which are always more spectacular than my flying haha!

Cenracer1....yeh mate I agree - any wind at all, even a fart or something, will put the heli out. Unless you have a dead calm morning the heli should really be classed as in-door only! Well, for my flying experience anyway...

The 22E flies very very well when there is no wind - I'm actually amazed at how well it will just hover on the spot when it's dead calm!

How far do you charge your lipo's up to? Mine charge up to anywhere between 12.45V to 12.60V - tell you what, you get some good time out of them when you run them up to 12.6V which seams to be about the limit lol!

A "bit" of inexperiance lol, try no bloody idea ha ha. I'm lucky enough to have 1200 square meters of absolutely empty warehouse to muck around in so wind is no problem, unless I fart lol. Im at no pitch with flybar padle 0-1+, the PIT is set to go 7-8 at max throttle. Ive been using a pitch guage but this seems pointless as it varies after adjusting blade tracking. Swash is set with a level as is flybar, no vibration and balance within a bum hair. Will muck around with pitch a pit more to see if I can get lift at lower rpm but till then more ground skippin me thinks.

Thanks also tommis85, I think I am expecting a bit too much too soon. Technicaly an uncontrolled hover IS a flight........isn't it...? lol. Anyhow it aint goin back in the box till it fly's through a battery charge lmao.

dodgemcopter THats the spirit!!.....It can be frustrating as all get out and my introduction to it has been a bit painfull to the wallet and my pride. But there is nothing like the feeling when you got a handle on it and burn thru that first battery pack in the air!! I agree with others the setup is very very crucial on CP helis...probably more so with the 22e because it is so responsive. My first four dirt digs were caused by lack of knowledge and bad setup. After I got it set right it was like a different machine altogether. Keep asking specifics because these guys are great and they won't mind going over things in detail (it is a LOOOOONG thread).

Tom thats great.....hopefully I will burn thru a pack or two myself in a couple of days . Can't wait to hear how your Belt does after you get your parts.

Cenracer yep that was the one...it had a buy it now and I went for it...did not expect it to stay there long. Course the motor may be too big(or too small) as he did not specify and only answered that it had one flight on it. Fingers crossed If its bigger than 3100kv I rekon I should save it for something else and get another eh? I feel kinda like dodgemcopter....I got to get some packs thru this before I walk away from it after hearing of all yalls successes. I will have a belt drive tail model to fly soon so if all goes good so I can experiment with the 22.

Heliaction I am am plotting and planning on a build. When I am sure I can afford it I will holler at you and see what ya think...I will need help especially with TX and servo selection.

no wind this weekend, no wind this weekend, no wind this weekend....
