BigJoe... did you even bother to read the reply that I made to you before your "wonderful" wise ass comment.. Oh and the fact that you posted your comment 2 hours later.. Maybe you should find another hobby because if you don't have any patience, then Heli's are not for you...Everyone on this site has a life, job and we are posting from all around the world... We are on all the time, but with that attitude, you won't get alot of help....

Big Joe,

I read an answer to your question here. It discussed checking the motors with batteries (like D Cell) to determine if it was the motors or maybe your radio setup and then if not those probably your 4n1. I am not sure if you did not see that reply or if your just saying the reply was of no help. Please let us know if you read the reply and were able to determine if your motors were good or burned out. Or let us know if your unclear on how to test the motors.

Haha yeh this thread moves pretty fast these days - I swear it has more activity than before! And yeh, you'd want to read it at least twice a day to keep up! I try to sign in before work, during lunch and then at night again - my girlfriend calls it an obsession lol!

Philly, I don't know how you brave wind like that - I have issues with the slightest breezes. I'll need to crank wind up on Realflight 24/7 from now on!

I think 5 knots (5*1.2MPH) with gusts to 7 knots to 10 Knots is about the max for me. Then its not fun. Even with my Trex 15 is pretty severe. its not the constant wind that gets me its the holes you can fall into. the gusts with lift are not so bad you just go up but those holes that can drop ya 10 or 15 feet can freak ya out if your only 8 feet high, LOL.

But it's still a lot of work on the throttle if your doing figure 8's giving power with the wind and backing off as you go into the wind.

Ha Ha,

some how I think he missed cenracers answer. As I recall cenracer was handleing 3 subjects in his reply so bigjoe's answer was embedded in the reply. Let's hope this is just a case of a very frustrated heli pilot. Heli's can get ya twisted, LOL.

Yeh those are pretty decent gusts....yeh, I agree with the holes. I cheat and try to fly then when there is no wind at all but sadly there's only a very small window of opportunity for that. I will need to practice flying in the wind so I can get more hours in!!! Hopefully by next weekend I'll have all my parts so that I can set both my heli's up. It's not so bad that I don't have anything to fly right now as we're going through a periode of wind, showers and extreme cold!!!

JD, how do you do your figure-9's these days. Obviously they're parallel with the ground...but, do you stand under the center of the figure 8 or do you stand side on so that you fly from left to right? (oh, and at what sorta altitude???) I'll get into those I reckon, sound interesting. I've just been flying from left to right with any sort of corner at the ends...sometimes a smooth banking or, when lazy, just stall it up and flip tail around (helo goes pretty fast then haha!!!)

Anyways, better get ready for another day

Tom

Rob,

Changing the holes on the servo mounts seems like a pretty good idea, Im a bit scared to try it though. How did you go about getting it out without damaging? Are they easy to just push out with a pin or back of a drill bit head?

I like the stock motor. Just break it in right and you can do most things with the 22E.

the brushless can be very tricky to get dialed in with the gyro. I know some have the brushless and are happy. I would make sure you get someones exact working setup and match it if you go brushless. You could spend a fortune and never get the right combo if you head out on your own. I have tried several setups I didn't like and went back to brushed. Most of the ones I tried overpowered the tail and gave so much head speed it made the bird overly darty and I had fear the head would break on its own.

JD

Thanks very much JD and Cenracer. I'll take your advice and stick with the stock motor. I'm curious though to see how long the EM300 will last as it does work really well. I guess I'll just leave it in until it fails. The brushless setup does not sound like a fun way to go and I certainly don't need any more frustration so I'll stick with as basic a set-up as possible.
