thanks, ace, i figured out what you are referring to and ur right, i broke it while removing the flybar. i thought its just a part of that aluminum weight-like. put some tape to hold the flybar with the flybar-link. and hoping to would be ok...

Hi JD, I read a post where they were talkin about the Flybar Control Tray. I hope the tape can hold the pressure of the centrifical force. Did it break in a crash ? or suddenly just give up and break ? I hope it wasn't in the air when it happened... Dennis

JD,

I share Dennis' concern about the tape holding. That part is under a great deal of stress, both from vibration and air loads. I would strongly suggest replacing it.

evan the stock piece is weak, when I realized mine was broke, I repaired it my self. I have many tools at my disposel, This repair can easliy be done with a drill, and a vise. take off the lock collar, drill a small hole in the aluminum collar about 3/4 of the way down on the inside, than drill at the same offset, and the same size drill bit into the flybar cage. Now what I did, I had a very small drill bit, and one slightly bigger. I drilled the holes like we just talked about, and than cut a piece of the bigger drill bit about 1/4 long, than press it in the lock collar hard. You can do the same thing using a needle, or paper clip, or something like that, just dill the hole slightly smaller than the object you are using. (you must keep the broken plastic piece in the center of the lock collar for it to still fit on your flybar.) than insert the lock collar back on the flybar, and insert new locking pin into the flybar cage. Repeat on other side, and no more breaking of that part.[:D]

I kept it on mine, it worked awesome, it also makes it easy to disassemble and reassemble. You can just remove 1 collar and slide the flybar out, and the other one is used for reference so when you install the flybar it goes back in the same spot.

Acebusa, I think these gyros are piezo controlled, and I would bet that your part with the broken wire is the piezo sensor. I found a site with some gyro information and test procedures. Don't know if this will help you but it's worth a shot. http://www.dprg.org/projects/2003-01a/ Also, I just bought a Blade CP last night. It is so much smoother than the 22e. I think I might actually be able to fly it!

Im thinking that part must still be the problem, Evan though it did stop the fluttering of the tail motor, by replacing it, now it may not allow it to work smoothly. When I tapped it before it would go erratic between no throttle, and evan full throttle evan at 1/4 stick. So it must control the speed of the tail. Mabee my new one I put on has a problem too. I will find out in a few days when I get my new rx.

Clem, I only read the first page of posts, don't remember seeing C of G.
I had a slight mishap during practice late last nite/early this morning, broke my flybar see saw. Upon dissassembly, I discovered that the nubs on the flybar control tray that the flybar goes thru and the collars attach too to hold the flybar centered, were also broke. They have probably been broke since my very first crash several days ago. Guess this means my bird is gunna be down a week or two. Rats !!! Dennis

C of G is there, but on the following pages. He is posting quite a bit.

Judging from what I am seeing, I think it wise to stock up on flybar seesaws and control trays. I have not broken one yet, but I can see that, if I dump it (which will happen at some point as often as I fly it), I will want to have the spares on hand.

I am actually thinking of purchasing a second machine, just in case...

I spent the morning doing rolls with the Honeybee CP2, but have tried it yet with the VNR3D because it is still nice and new-I have already dorked the Honeybee good, so I am not that concerned about it.

is it one of these parts or is it the new style head? And for the flybar cage, just do the mod we previously discussed. Its a easy great repair.

Don't crash the VNR3D just yet... They are so new, the parts are not redily available. Just got off the phone with Paul at Venom, and he said the carbon fiber blades are in now, for $35.00, but the stuff I need won't be in stock for a few days to a week. Tower has apparently ordered a bunch of this stuff too, so we should be able to buy from them in the next couple of weeks. The flybar seesaw assy is $11.99 and the flybar control tray is $7.99. I forgot to ask how much the blade grips are going for, but I think it's around the $10.00 to $15.00 range. I guess I can entertain myself with my Revo while im waiting for the stuff to come available. LOL Dennis

I definitely want a set of the CF Blades for the VNR3D!

I installed a set for the Honeybee, and it improved things greatly (the tendency for the Honeybee to pitch up in forward flight is almost completely gone). I did about 70 rolls this morning (yes-I counted-the sad thing was that none of them worth a darn) and the CF Blades really help.

I have a set of CF Blades on the Blade CP, but have not flown it yet with them.

It is just time (and parts). You will get there sooner than you think. Enjoy the whole process.

You are dreaming of forward flight.

I am dreaming about managing a flat roll. It is getting a little better, but there is always some "corkscrewing" or something that makes the rolls look bad. I need a lot more practice (and to be 30 years younger).

I am also dreaming about flying inverted. I tried briefly a couple of times, 20 years ago, and barely saved the machine. I was completely unsuccessful with inverted. I tried again about two months ago, after some simulator time, and managed to do it very briefly for or five times before dorking the helicopter (that is how the Honeybee got damaged). I have been putting in a lot more sim time and the rolls are a precurser to trying to go upside down again.

I need to remember to bring a broom and dust pan to the flying field...

At least I did not get terribly nervous when rolling this morning. When I started doing it last November, it was pretty nerve wracking. I had not rolled a helicopter since about 1987 or so, and then is was glow powered.

Weather permitting, I will attempt it again tomorrow.

I'd be thrilled just to be able to hover around. LOL When the training balls leave the floor, im all over the place. The controls are rather mushy, and I can't seem to stabilize. As long as the ball are lightly on the floor, im ok... What would you say is the best surface for learning ? hard and slippery, or short carpet ? I've been on carpet so far...

I like the sand it is very forgiving when the blades touch the ground. If you are on smoot garage floor, It will skate around and let you steer, and turn while it is on the ground. Other surfaces like grass, and some carpets dont allow it to skate, so when it get ready to lift off it is already loaded to one side, and takes off fast in that direction, when you are begaining this could be another parts ordering experience. On slick floor, you can steer a little, and get it stable before you lift off. It will come off the ground smoother and is a little easier. However if you drift toward somthing, when you set it down quick it will slide a ways before it stops, and while the blades are still winding down they may find thier way into some unexpecting Item.[8|]

I am going to disagree with Ace on this one-NEVER, EVER, EVER SAND!

Sand, dirt, grit, is your enemy. It will find its way into bearings and ball links and grind them into submission.

Short pile carpet is good, a gymnasium with a wooden floor would be great, but never dirt or sand. I avoid black top and hard surfaces-I like flying over grass, but I am not on training gear so that it is not an issue.

The sand sounds a little scary to me... it too would have alot of drag against the training balls.The gym floor sounds like fun. Lots of room and a slippery floor... Wish I had access to one...

Well I think I would rather replace bearings, and ball links, rather than blade grips, blades, and flybar connector, And trust me on these models when you crash you will most likely brake one or the other. In the sand It takes the shock of the crash and you brush it off and try again. I have not had any problems with bearings or ball links yet. However it is up to you, Ah is a smart guy, and is no rookie so do what works for you Ill let you know if the sand starts destroying my heli.

No, where I fly I guess the grains of sand are bigger its not a dusty sand its more gritty. It saved me tons of times when I was learning to hover. All I know is it sucks to crash and break parts, There is really no good solution to crashing except try not too, Clem has been flying for many years and he still crashes once in a while, Of course He is doing advanced manuvers, but reguardless it is just a part of the hobby, If they wernt hard to fly it wouldnt be as fun to fly.
