Sand blows down, the curls up around the helicopter, then is sucked through the blades and mechanics. It keep recirculating, and acting like rubbing compound. This was worse when we used to fly glow powered machines, as the oil from the exhuast would mix with it and really make a mess.

I am sure that it would make a good cushion in a crash, but just not the direction I would chose to go.

Dennis,

51 more rolls this morning, with between 5-6 of the reasonably flat (and some that really sucked BIG TIME!). The Honeybee collective is now so sloppy that I will probably have to break down and attempt to roll the VNR3D. It is still virgin (at least as far as aerobatics go) so I am still overcautious with it.

Keep us posted as to your progress.

I suppose it has to be this way then... I just hate waiting for the parts. The VNR3D is so new, the parts are not available yet, so it's going to be a couple of weeks probably... Supposedly, within a month, all the parts will be readily available, even from Tower. Whatever you do, don't crash your VNR3D just yet. LOL Dennis

On the bright side, I have learned alot about the rotor head assembly, how it works, and how to work on it. It's a piece of cake now... I just need more frosting. LOL

Will do Clem... Don't wad up the VNR3D, for a while at least. LOL The only rolls I can do are with my Super Stearman Biplane, but im bored with it and my Piper Cub. They both have Saito 4 strokes on them by the way. I hate 2 strokes !!! The only 2 stroke I own now is on my Revo. I never get bored with it. They are bad to the bone fast, and tough as nails...

Give me some measurements on some of the vnr3d parts with calipers, and I will measure my 22e parts, and you could try to see if they fit. Can anyone post a picture of the vnr3d rotor head, tail set up, and complete picture?

the new version does, have the 2 arms also on the 22e, and on the picture thing, you can post pictures right off your computer, the only way to do it on this forum is instead of going to the fast reply box on the bottom of the forum, just click on any message reply, or quote. when you do this you will see on the bottom left of the text box it will say upload. Click on that and you can load from your computer, and attach the pictures easily.

Dennis,

Venom just announced that the parts are in! I am going to get a couple of sets of blade grips for spares (I managed to find the linkage set, the flybar tray, and the see-saw).

Ace,

Someone had a thread with pictures. Suffice to say, the control paddles actually have "22#D" molded into them. Does this sound familiar?

I also got a look at an assembled Hornet X3D and the parts look like they might fit as well (I cannot swear to it).

The hornet super head appears the same, but is quite a bit different when you get it in your hands, I dont know if the hornet2, and the hornet x3d are the same or not. Thats why I was wondering the measurements of the vnr3d, To see if they measure the same. I Know on the hornet 2 the blade grips only have a bearing on one side, and the other free floats, and the drive shaft rod is shorter, and a few other changes, I will post some more details, and pictures in a few days, I am just waiting till I can complete my upgrades before I post pics. I hope we can find what parts interchange to help you, and others that want more options for parts, and upgrades.
