OnTheEdge, I saw you mentioned a "practice cap" from Tim Davie. Could you tell me where I can get the file? Or Tim if you read this could you e-mail it to me? Thanks,

Jess

What is this? A file for G2?
If so, send it my way as well.....

I tried to e-mail both of you with the file. Not sure if I did it correctly.

Mr Geffon, Yes, this is a G2 file. I originally copied a file from the Realflight swap page. The plane is called a "CAP232-2x". Tim tweaked it a little and sent the file back to me. See link for the original CAP232-2X.

Thanks for the file. I just got it loaded into my RF G2 sim.
The Cap's ailerons dont work at all with the #1 switch in one position or the other.

As far as the file you sent. you did it correctly, the .pln file is the only one that you need when sending a plane to someone else.
The other one is a .bak file and I have no idea what it does!

Not sure why the ailerons don't work. I'm using a Futaba 6 channel radio with no mixing capabilities through the transmitter interface. If you use mixing, perhaps it has something to do with that. ??????

Hi Wayne!

Don't worry about getting the thing going... I just downloaded and tried it. I put in a couple of clicks of right rudder trim and set the controller on the desk... it torque'd perfectly for about a minute.

I think the stock Extra 3D or stock Sukhoi 3D are alot better for learning. The Sukhoi handles a little like my Cap.

Hi Joe, Did you need to add elevator throw or increase it's percentage of surface on the stock Extra 330 3D? The stock one is very slow on elevator resonse. The rudder isn't too much better.

Negative. You can, of course, but that's not going to help you TR at the field, IMO. Better to get good at the stock 3D plane. You have to be much more ahead of it... which is what you'll need at the flightline. When you get good with the stock 3D... move on to TR'n the stock Extra 330 (not the 3D model). :-)

I just realized that the radio I'm using on the sim had the dual rates set up wrong on the back of the radio. I was only flying with about 50% of the throws. (no wonder they felt sluggish) The stock Extra 3D now flies much better. I've still got a L-O-N-G way to go though. I was starting to feel I'd never get it. Now there's hope. And a lot more practice...... and a lot more practice....and a lot more practice.

Also, does anyone know if the trainer cord is available for the new Futaba 9c radios yet? I'd like to start using it on the sim to get used to the feel of the radio.

Thanks........Mark

The operative word here is PRACTICE Cap JBH. Let em Learn what to do when they're looking at the belly. within 5 seconds of pointing the nose up you are going to have to do one or several of the following: adjust throttle, use up or down elevator, use L or R rudder. You have to think about what you are doing at first to add the correct inputs. The speed at which this plane falls off allows the beginner to do that. With Practice, it becomes second nature. I like to compare it to typing. Remember how you had to think about which fingers punched which keys? (ok some of us still do) And how it took a while to get to 60 words per minute? This plane got me started torque rolling...not that TR'ing is the greatest achievement you could hope for. But like anything that is done well, it does take a lot of practice.

The simulator allows us to learn a little bit before duplicating exactly what it's going to be like at the flightline. Yep it's slow, but you gotta walk before you can run.
Then move on...

Hi Tim!

Wayne can already TR... so I didn't think he'd enjoy it much. As for helping the new guy... maybe you're right. Thanks!
