****!! Other than your own self-serving assertions, is there any proof of these allegations? What do you mean by "no accounting"? Are there no records? Did you actually interrogate the correct source of information, then accurately & honestly post the results of your inquiry?

You ignore the information posted & continuously re-post the same crud over & over again. Clearly your plan is to keep distorting reality, ad nauseum, until the truth becomes lost in your ever-growing pile of crap.

Right on Britbrat.

The FAI Chairman uses Expedia to asseess the airfare costs to each event and can then assign a fair proportion of the assistance funds budgetted by MAAC to each competitor. This sum will be less than the air fare and probably run about 50 to 60% of the air fare.

As already posted, the competitor pays all the rest of the expenses out of his own pocket
Uniforms,
Entry fees,
Food,
Accommodation,
Equipment,
Communications,
Balance of air travel cost,
Ground transportation costs.

Plus MAAC does not pay for any helpers, who are essential in some events like soaring.

There's no point in expecting the competitor to account in detail for how he spends his own money. If he shows up, then MAAC knows exactly how its money has been spent. He gets half his allocation before going and he only gets the balance after the event when he has fulfilled an obligation to prepare a report.

As the Brits say "Some people's children!"

Whether it's 5% or 3% or 7%, it's still somewhere around $16,000 to $24,000 for 10 to 11 maac members to fly at FAI world contests;
an amount the at not completely accounted for, an amount that is not identifiable, an amount that your zone rep should have and can give you.
Nor is there an accounting of which team received how much for what, airfare, food, travel autos, meals, fees, phone....

Quite frankly - you're dead wrong.
The funding formula is consistant, and each team manager, and each board member, gets a list of how the funding is split between each team. The total FAI line in the abbreviated budget is normally about $40,000 - a number that was published in last june's MAC Magazine, it was cut to about 28,000 last year, which cost us some competitors at world events.

Your assertion that 10 to 11 members go to worlds in a given year is absurd. Beyond that, worlds are a two year cycle, so you'r have to look at the total number of members eligible to go. By looking at the events that we typically send teams to, there are about 58 positions up for grabs for canadian team members, not counting support crew.

Does MAAC spend a disproportionate amount of money on FAI realted costs ... perhaps, but show me any other similar organisation that doesn't do the same to support its intenational competitors. When I did my first parachute jump, a membership in the national parachute association was a manditory part of it ... part of which went to fund the national team (and increase their acc dues) Anyone with kids in hockey supports the various team Canadas, even the teams with millionares being borrowed from NHL teams.

if you want to have fun with numbers, last year we spent about $130,000 or 22% of our expenses on insuracne an not one member used that insurace (taht I am aware of) and at most 2 or 3 minor claims are filed each year.
Clearly I'm not serious, but the fact that MAAC pays $2000 of teh $2500 deductible is something I have a tough time with.
