There are 5 versions of the #5: #5, #5, #5-2, #5-3, #5-3 Apache gunship, #5-4

The #5, and 5-2 were basically the same except for the canopy, and transmitter. The 5-2/Housefly added the Lama style canopy, the now familiar Walkera 4ch TX, and the later on a carbon fiber outer shaft replaced the steel outer shaft.

The 5-3 was a complete redesign with real servos, and a swash plate, much better than the previous versions.

The 5-3 Apache Gunship is essetially a step back to the old #5-2/Housefly platform with a full Apache Gunship body in Desert Camo.

The 5-4 another redesign of the #5 which closely matches the Esky Lama2 is even better than the old 5-3.

I wasn't happy with the stock battery and its peformance. Finally last weekend i got my TP 1320 2 cell lipo from aeromicro.
After putting a jst connectors on it.. i took it for a test flight on my #10, of course after charging with TP charger.

I tell you.. it made a big differnce in the flight performance compared to the stock battery. It produced enough c's to have the same performance as the first minute of flying.. i flew it for 10- mins.. and set it to rest.. the motors were not as hot as it did with the stock.. mabye because of a little less weight then the stock batteries...

Anyways I am very happy with the new batteries.. and also didnt had to modify the battery cage..

If you guys ever want to change your batteries don't go with the stock and of course do not use the stock charger either.. they are not that great either..

It doesn't come with the connector- You have to put your own jst connector to work with your heli.
the connector you see on the picture is the 4 pin balancing connector- which is different then E-sky connector.

I use TP charger to charge it through jst connector- You can buy the jst connector from the same site for a buck, make sure you have heat shrink so that you can insulate the connection.

Or you can alway buy a battery that already has a jst connector built in.

I HAVE BEEN FLING MY WALKERA #10 FOR A FEW WEEKS NOW AND IT IS GREAT. READING YOUR INPUT ON THIS HELI HAS BEEN GREAT ON MY DECISION TO BUY AND FLY THIS ITEM. BUT I HAVE A QUESTION TO THROW INTO THE MIX ; I CAN NOT GET THE YAW TO TRIM ENOUGH. I TRIED TO ADJUST THE TRIM MORE BUY USING THE ADJUSTMENTS ON THE PANEL BELOW THE ARM BUTTON. I ADJUSTED THE LOWER RIGHT HAND CONTROL ABOUT A HALF OF A TURN AND IT DID NOT HELP. CAN ANY ONE TELL ME WHAT I JUST DID ? I DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS THE GYRO OR YAW CONTROL. THEY ARE NOT MARKED AND LIKE EVERYONE SAYS THE MANUEL IS USELESS, EVEN THE HORSEFLY MANUAL DOES NOT STATE WHAT FUNCTION THEY ARE USED TO ADJUST.

I just bought 2 Outer shafts from that "Florida Ticket" guy, he's a nice person.
Moreover, I realized that those 2 shafts are hollow/outer shafts, so what should I do
for the "INNER SHAFT" if my heli gets crashed?? have to get some spare inner shafts also
just incase?

BTW: is it hard & complicated to change the outer shaft?? thanks!

Status: offline 		I've had my #10 for a couple of months now......works great. I think that I may have burnt out my rear engine. Sometimes the top prop wont spin on start up. If I help it it goes. Only flys good for a couple of minutes then it starts rotating on its own and the battery seems to die off after only a couple of minutes (red light flashing) Has anyone replaced motors or had a similar problem. Also I am getting a wobble in the upper shaft. Blades seem ballanced and snug (not too snug). I am going to try a new battery, but I think that I may need to replace the motors.........Anyone gone brushless on one of these yet?

Status: offline 		i have had problems with the batteries not staying in full power which i had to replace and got a thunder power.. which i am very happy with.. in terms of motors- my motors are fine.. they just get hot.. after 6-7 mins of flying time.. and one of them would get hotter than the other.. which would make it harder to control.. so a cool down stop is a good advice.

Replacing 370 motors with a brushless on a helli like this.. is probably not a good idea... cause you also need to install two ESC for motors besides these helis really are not designed to do anything but hover and some precise maneuvering in house.. extra power is not really worth the cost and mods.. but again maybe there are people who have modified it.. lets hear from some other pilots in this group..

let us know if you upgrade it ..

Status: offline 		I Tried a new battery, and I've still got the same problem. The top blade doesnt seem to start up on its own. If I give it a flick it will go. Flies well up to a foot or so for a minute, but when I increase the throttle, it spins out and takes full stick to almost hold straight. Then the red light comes on and I can hold it at full throttle and it doesn't respond. Is it possible that my rear motor is pouched and causing the battery to die very quickly. I think that I'll be buying a new set of motors. Any suggestions as to who has the best price, delivery time, and good english skills.....etc?

before you replace the motors which very might be the problem, try swapping the wires to the motors and see if the same motor still needs a kick start.. if so than order new set of motors.

Walkera 10 parts are hard to find and expansive and dealing with overseas is really not that great.. I have tried 2 vendors overseas and non are good- their prices are fine but lot of time they are back ordered and hold partial shipment.. made me really mad.

Anyways.. you might want to try this site.. they are only on-line store so do no expect technical support from them but pricing is reasonable and they do deliver on time = $23.60 for couple of motors plus shipping.

they also have upgraded hollow shaft which i have already ordered.... but waiting to rec. them.

I have bought stuff from them before and they were good....

If I ever loose my motors I will look into coreless motors like in Hirobo-XRB but i am not sure the pinion and size are the same..

Anyways.. let me know how goes it.. hope you are flying soon.

Status: offline 		Purchased the motors from e-store. Good tip! I should have them by the end of next week. What is the deal with the hollow shaft? Is there any improvement over the stock one? I wonder if it would have less play and wobble.

Status: offline 		I haven't been taking breaks when flying. I basically fly it until she won't fly anymore. Do you find that the rear motor gets the hottest? That may be why my has burnt out......food for thought.
