Hi all,

I just bought this heli.
It's really good, much better than walkera 5.
It's more stable, fast, quick response and reseaonable price.

But i don't have walkera 10, so, can't compare with it.

Now, i use it very carefully, because I can't find any website sell spare parts. ~_~

Anyone can help? i really afriad it crash.....

hi there,
wellcome to the party, can you post some pictures of yours new heli?
where did you buy it, go there and ask them for the parts or check out here
www.ehirobo.com, they're selling this heli too, may help....

**BTW: not sure if it uses some common parts from walker No.10??

buacc -> RE: Walkera #10 (4/16/2006 8:06:30 AM)

Yes, i bought this heli from ehirobo.
Also, i asked them for the parts, they told me that the parts may be available after 1-2 weeks.
So, i can't crash it in this period ^_^ .

Seems they are the first one selling this heli. Also, no one sell parts until now.

what kind a heli did you buy.. is it a walkera 10 or something look alike.. is it x-rotation..
as per micropotato.. some pics would be help .... in determining what kind a parts would it take.

I order my parts of walkera 10 from www.hobby-estore.com it has been good experince buying parts from them.. they are local and ok.. to deal with

Please post some pics..

thanks,

buacc -> RE: Walkera #10 (4/16/2006 9:26:12 PM)

Hi squadri1126,

My heli is Walkera 53 from eHIROBO.
you can check it with the following link:
http://www.ehirobo.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=82_90&products_id=3780

They said this is improved version of Walkera 10 (which is very old model, and i don't have it).

Just visit the website you provided, they don't have it and i don't think they will provide walkera 53 parts too.

squadri1126 -> RE: Walkera #10 (4/17/2006 2:23:03 PM)

buacc,

looks nice.. different body material and design. Looks more durable-

the motors are the same- and the electronics are the same..at least from the description

rotors design has been changed, probably to make the flight more stable.

power supply same..

If only i could see a video of this one flying.. that would be great.. do u konw of any where it is posted.

thanks and enjoy your new bird.... I believe most of the parts you would be able to use from walkera 10 lets wait and see when they start carrying the parts..

thanks,

squadri.

pklein50 -> RE: Walkera #10 (4/20/2006 5:26:01 PM)

have a new df 53 on order--anyone give me any advice.. still crashing me 22e--figured i needed something easier--am newbie to heli..

pklein50 -> RE: Walkera #10 (4/25/2006 3:38:51 PM)

just got my df 53 same as 10 but upgrade.. flew well out of the box..if some one knows a good place for parts let me know.. dont need them yet but can never tell. would like some advice on lipo charger and another 7.4 lipo 12oo batt. do not want to spend much but better than wall charger.. got 5 batt on it so far still flying great..

squadri1126 -> RE: Walkera #10 (4/25/2006 3:57:11 PM)

pklein50,

glad that you got your heli... and it is already flying out of the box.. good deal.

Yes, the wall charger that comes with the stock sucks.... the first thing i did was to get a new charger and a thunderpower 1300 lipo. Which i am still using- The stock battery is actually good but the charger just doesn't do justice to it. I still use my stock on my other heli.

I would suggest just to get a decent lipo wall charger and you will see the difference in flight time and battery performance.

I use thunder power TP425 - but you can get cheaper charger with slow charge rate of 500-700mah that would do just fine but it would just take longer time. Read a lot on LIPOS if you haven't read on it already. Never drain out completely... you will damage the cells and it might catch fire.. read a lot..

About parts have no idea where to get parts for you upgraded heli.

Enjoy... squadri.

pklein50 -> RE: Walkera #10 (4/25/2006 4:13:32 PM)

thx for all the info .. will definatly do some research on lipo batt and charger.. i figured there had to be something more resonable than a cyclic charger costing hundreds of $$$. i am new at this and would like to enjoy without going to the poor house too rapidly.. pat

FUS -> RE: Walkera #10 (5/19/2006 4:07:15 AM)

Hi, I just finish to fill my order to get the #10... Im really pleased to be in the oportunity to read all the post refered to the Walkera #10 here, i was betwen the chose of HorseFly or the Walkera #10... I can deny the fact that i read a lot in many forums about the HorseFly too, but it looks like here almost all the posts are to say how good the #10 fly and how to improve the fly, versus the posts about the Horsefly that have a lot of technical cuestions to solve some problems (plus good reviews about the Heli too [:)]).

Well finaly the price, and good information provide here help to the Walkera, i have a Walkera 22D, but im really new in this (firs heli) and is really hard for me to try to fly my 22D, thats other of the reason why i chose Walkera, after many "accidents" with my heli nothing bad happend [:D], not even a blade broke... just some parts get off but some time and care and its working great and ready to get in the wall again!

I hoppe with this one that is focused to the new incomers in the RC helis i get the practice to fly my 22D [8|]

See you here as soon i get my new TOY (as my wife use to call my Heli).

squadri1126 -> RE: Walkera #10 (5/19/2006 2:17:00 PM)

Fus,

welcome aboard.. glad that you decided to go with Walkera10, i have one for almost 8 months now.. now i seldom fly but still keeping it for indoor flying..

enjoy and keep us posted..

squadri.

FUS -> RE: Walkera #10 (5/21/2006 3:37:42 PM)

I think I read some were a link to some web with Lipo batteries and good chargers... from were you get yours?

I have to replace the charger that comes with my 22D and really catch the experience about the fact to its a good idea to use a better charger instead of the stock one (performance and quality) so i will apreciate to get a good recomendation on chargers.

Thanks

FUS

squadri1126 -> RE: Walkera #10 (5/22/2006 3:50:05 PM)

Fus,

I use thunderpower tp425 here is the link..
http://www.allerc.com/product_info.php?products_id=1411
and astro 12v power supply.. it is more than i need but this astro is good to provide power supply to two chargers at a time.. i use this to charge my TREX-SE and Blade-CP.

you can search for good price.. or seach something different like Celectra 1-3C charger they are both good..

take care and happy flying..

squadri.

s5lin -> RE: Walkera #10 (5/25/2006 1:06:32 AM)

I was recently debating between the Dragonfly #10 and the #53. I am happy to say that I got the #53.

Got it in on Monday, soon as I got it, I charged the battery and then I flew it outside.

My first impressions:

Stock, the servo travel can be adjusted and out of the box there was not very much throw on my heli for forward flight. I would apply full up to the cyclic controls and the heli would not move forward. So I adjust the travel via the little screw adjustment. Now the throw is much better.

The Gyro did not seem to be all that great. I am still adjusting it as the heli really wants to spin its nose to the right. I had to assume that the gyro control is somewhat like the Blade CX one which allows you to alter the speed of the lower rotor. The Heli does fly very stable though and I am impressed with the scale detail.

For those of you that own the #10 I will list the differences between the #10 and the #53:

-Main blades have more camber
-The blade tip is more angled
-Main Frame is different
-Battery holder is different
-No bellcrank system
-Main blade holders are different (thinner)

My only complaint is that the new blades seem more fragile than the old ones and the old blades can't fit on the blade holders unless you sand the root down a bit. And also I think the tail boom is very fragile on both the #10 and #53.

But other than the tail boom being my main complaint. I REALLY like this Heli. I use to fly my Blade CX all the time, now this is the heli I fly the most.

squadri1126 -> RE: Walkera #10 (5/25/2006 2:25:02 PM)

s5lin,

Gongrats on your purchase, Good comparison between #10 and #53. Glad that you like it.. are you going to switch the blades or use the stock.

how is the flight time on a full charge.

enjoy..

thanks,
squadri.

s5lin -> RE: Walkera #10 (5/26/2006 11:39:02 AM)

With the stock charger, I could not even tell when the battery was done charging. The red light was very dim and the green light stayed on all the time.

I could only get about 5-7 minutes of 50% throttle hovering. Used a friends plug in wall charger(aftermarket) noted a big difference in the amount of "punch"(acceleration) the helicopter had and I was getting a full 10-12 minute flights. I agree with some of the other posts, the stock charger is crap.

The stock lipo is not bad, its the charger. I noticed people complained about a lack of response with the #10. I don't recall if the #10 had the adjustable servo travel that the #53 has. I just turned the second adjustment screw in clockwise and got plenty of response for a Co-axial heli. Forward Flight was at a decent speed. No complaints here.

However the heli does seem to have issues with always wanting to spin the nose to the right. I think that means the top rotor which is left hand rotating is spinning too fast and causing the yaw. Do you have issues with excessive yaw too? I have tried adjusting the gyro, but this has not really helped.

With the Blade CX I was able to adjust the speed of the rotor via an adjustment on the 4 in 1 unit. Do not know if the gyro on the #53 controls this feature.

squadri1126 -> RE: Walkera #10 (5/26/2006 4:50:33 PM)

yes, the gyro on #10 controls the mix and yaw.. so it should be same on #53. Actually the manual should say something about using the 4in1 controls and should have come with a plastic screw-driver for your 4in1.

Yes, I had issues with the yaw.. but corrected it with the tx and not with the gyro.. but whenever you have a dual rotor system.... you will always have problems cause one of the motor gets warmer than the other which causes the yaw to change.. or some times the 4in1 gets warmer than the should.

the stock charger is a crap.. and never use that charger.. in fact you will feel better when you trash the charger..[:D]

happy flying..

FUS -> RE: Walkera #10 (5/26/2006 10:22:13 PM)

So its a fact... we need to get a replace for the charger!!!! [:D]

I think is a problem in general with walkera, I only use my stock charger (22D) once and it burn out...

I replace it and my new charger works excelent, charges in about 4 hours, have a realy visible RED/GREEN (Charging/Ready) L.E.D, the battery runs for 9 or 10 minutes and the best is a get it from Walmart for $15... [:D]

I will order a new charger as soon I can and maybe I can get it a couple of days after i get my #10 so I can see a better performance using the heli.

FUS -> RE: Walkera #10 (5/28/2006 1:08:15 PM)

Im not sure about this of the batteries and charger... i was thinking in this E-TEC SM 2020 LIPOLY 3 CELL CHARGER (APACHE 2020) what do you think about this option?

Thanks

FUS

squadri1126 -> RE: Walkera #10 (5/28/2006 5:12:59 PM)

hi..

sounds like a decent charger for your bird, max output is 1200mah which should be fine for your battery. I think it comes with 1300mah if i remember correctly. The only reason i did not get this one is because on my TREX i have a 2200 TP so i use the max. which is not to exceed 1C. from TP charger.

For the price this is fine.. but remember you also need a power supply. 4 hrs. for one charge is too long... if you charge it at 1c it should not take more then a 1.5 or less hrs.

well good luck if you purchase this charger.. it should work fine with your walkera.

happy flyings.. squadri

FUS -> RE: Walkera #10 (5/31/2006 3:19:09 AM)

Today I get my #10, the box was a little mess but it looks like nothing get broken [sm=cool.gif](good factory packing)... i need to wait to open it because of my kids and wife... but i think toorrow will be a good day to set all and order a new charger (E-flite Celectra 1-3 Cell Li-Po Charger for the charger, im not sure about the power supply, some one have a sugestion? [sm=confused.gif]).

Im really pleased with the look of the #10, i like the size and detail... Im really glad to try the RC Helis, i was a little discouraged because of my failure to fly the 22D, but after read about i realized the level of skills to fly and chose to start with the better sugestion acording my skills [:D]

FUS

---------------------------- Today --------------------------------->

Well i put everyting on the correct order... im not sure about the battery [:@], it still shows the green led on, im not sure if it will react like say on the manual of the Flyhorse... or if will be diferent, its about 1 hr at this point of "charging" so i will check if is working or not... I order the charger so it will be here for the end of this week of the next one.

I hope it works fine, even if is for only 5 minutes whit this charger... [sm=pirate.gif]

FUS -> RE: Walkera #10 (6/2/2006 1:55:01 AM)

Well it works... at less it goes up [:D], but i have some problems hovering, it moves to the front and rigth and i cant set the yaw trim in the way to get a stable hovering... i cant get the midle point or it goes to the left-rigth or it goes to the back-rigth... or left if i move the roll yaw trim, some one know if is something that need to be adjusted to solve this or its imposible to have a perfect hovering with minimun movement to any direction (my heli moves really fast to the front and the side [:@]).

Rowboat -> RE: Walkera #10 (8/27/2006 6:53:13 AM)

Hi every one
I usually play with boats, and flying is new to me.
I was wondering what is the difference between the walkera #10 and the Walkera 5#4.

I just brought a walkera 5#4 Heli . I have been flying it on average about one hour per day for the last three weeks.
I use the lipo battery that came with it and get about 10 mins flight . So I tried using a bigger battery, an 1800mah . I get about 25 to 30 mins of flight time. It's a little heavy in the air but providing that their is no wind I can fly all over the back yard.

My problem is that I have burnt out the motors. Does any one know if you can up grade these heli motors to brushless motors.

squadri1126 -> RE: Walkera #10 (8/28/2006 7:03:27 PM)

Rowboad,

No you wont be able to go brushless without changing the electronics, ESC for each motor besides changing to brushless motors. I have not seen any BL with the similar size.

If you want a longer life form your motors, you might want to take breakes in between your 20-25mins flights.
Also, lube the motor from where where the pininons sticks out.. a drop of light weight oil would help. It will reduce your temperature of motors and would make your flight smoother.

FUS,
You might want to play with your trims for your cyclic controls. If it goes too much front then decrease your trim to close to the center.. I get better flight control after playing with my trims and than later on increasing the mixing from the pod on the 4in1.

Make sure you reset your 4in1 after making any modification by power on and off or by pushing the reset button on your 4in1.

I have the older version of 10. It flies well.. but I barely fly it now.. cause most of the my flying is done outside with trex-se or mx400xs.. but i still like my #10 for in-door flying.

thanks,
squadri.
