I'm planning on using a RCV 1.20 engine on my TF P-51 so that I can swing a scale size prop. My plane is going to way out @ 12 lbs. Will this engine fly the model in a scale manner? : I'm not crazy about (unscale) speed.

I think that a 120 with a Zinger 18x14 or 20x12 or 18x16 will give you what you are looking for and than some. you will probably be flying at 3/4 throttle or less most of the time if you want to fly scale. I was flying a 74' Corsair art about 9+ Pounds with a RCV 60SP it flew very scale, considering that the gear was hanging out at all times.

Thanks! I think that I go with the 20x12 so that it gives me a more scale look in the air. This engine runs wonderfully (and strong). I'm not afraid to swing this size.

you should check your ground clearance with the prop you are thinking of using.

Hello
You may have to try more than one size to get the performance you are looking for. Just remember this, What ever prop you use load the engine down to about 4400-4800 rpm Maximum, And For heavens sake use the right fuel. Do not over lubricate the engine.

What do you mean by over lubrication? I've never had that problem before? Is there sometime that I don't know about this engine?

If you read threw this section, specially the part called, Fuel is not fuel is not fuel. You will find that these engines like fuel that contains LESS THAN 16% oil I prefer 14% (always caster, Synthetic blend ) You can over compress these engines with too much oil. Resulting in loss of power and vibration.

Thank You
Otto
