Still running my Megatechs on my SSC/A ships. I need to order some blue props. I've got a GC for Tower, so I will be ordering some goodies from them.

I'm pretty out of practice, but it usually comes back quickly for me.

Well, you looked pretty good, all things considered, at the contest up here. You just need to watch out for those briars.

Uh yeah , briars... how about cutting those down? Speaking of looking out for things, perhaps you should watch out for windsock poles, electric edges and anything else that comes in close proximity to your airplane!

Wow, news travels fast, or you've been reading the FSA clubhouse forum for you to know about that edge incident.

And it wasn't the windsock, it was the weather vane, and I didn't hit the pole at all, I just nailed the fin square on . And I wouldn't have hit it except that they had raised the thing several feet fairly recently. (I think a couple of weeks if I recall).

Anyway, it's not every contest that you get to scrub off 3 differnet guys in to the ground in the same heat.

In my case it wasn't the ground, it was the overly high grass that I ended up getting caught in. I've put my share of guys into dumb thumb territory when they have been chasing me low on the deck.

Well, yeah, you never hit the ground, just that briar that I flew around yes, I knew it was there, though I didn't think you'd hit it. It does stick up a bit over there.

Some of the small trees have been getting taller around the field. I'd love to cut a bunch of them down, as well as get rid of some of those brambles. The club can, our landlord is ok with us clearning anything we want to clear. But it's a ton of effort to do it.

Now if the off-roaders would just set fire to the grass again....

You're the Prez, make it happen! Back when I lived in MD and was a member of a club, there was a mower shed too close to the flight line. It disappeared due to lightning, if you can believe that!

I've considred asking the local FD if a controlled burn was possible or what they think of such things. Mowing it down would be expensive and take a long time, so I'm not seeing that happening.

9303 on the way....

Kirk,

I'm interested in moving this Sea Fury. It is partially assembled. I've got the Century Jet 3/16" retracs as well. Know of anyone in FSA that might be interested. Trying to avoid shipping this thing as the wing is built. I've got pictures, etc.

Oh, btw, I also have a 9303, though I won't be using it for combat, it's my "other planes" radio. I'm using Tracker III's for combat.

If you go to the clubhouse forum, there's an FSA clubhouse thread.

You might also just try listing it on RCU's for-sale section and say no shipping, I know a lot of planes are sold that way.

I like just using one TX for all of my planes, whether they are combat or aerobatic ships. I looked at the Tracker III's, but they just didn't have the right look and feel for me. I've read all of the Polks' threads as well.

I keep up on the FSA threads as well. Have to see what kind of mischief you are getting into...

I'll post the Fury on the classifieds and see what happens. Just collecting dust right now.

Actually when i was up there for that one event i kept on putting in the dirt because i forgot theres no rudder. I get it close to the ground bank it real sharp getting ready to apply some left rudder to keep the nose up. Then it hits me wait theres no rudder!!! unitl its too late and it dirt naps in the briars.
Well i built myself a second wing, for the just in case moments. So I should be pretty well set. Well kinda off topic but, i was thinking of changing over to micro servos to save a little more weight. I have 2 HS 85 metal gears laying around thats needs a good home. Would this servo be allright for a single servo Aileron setup or should i just stick with my standard 3003?

almost a draw on torque between the Hs85 snd 3003. I would go with the 85's for the weight savings.

Put the plane on a scale. If it's heavier than 40oz, then putting the micro servo in makes sense. Otherwise, it doesn't, and I wouldn't bother. Fwiw, I use a standard on elevator and aileron, and a micro on throttle, mostly because it fits in the fuse.

Hey guys, April 8th isn't that far away. How is everyone's prep going? I'm behind where I wanted to be at this point, but I have enough gear to at least get things started.
