I just purchased some 5955TG servos for my 34% Extra. These have the label V 1.04, and a green dot with 05.6 on them. I will be using 2 of the Hitec 8ch Supreme Receivers with them, and 2 6V 2700 mAh sanyo cells. No y harnesses.

Are there still any issues with these servos, and can I use the servo arms that come with them or should I go with metal servo arms. I will be setting up for 3D.

Anyone, thanks.

Originally a problem was discovered with revision v1.04 servos and v1.03 programmers, all v1.04 servos must be programmed with an updated v1.04 programmer. Futaba PCM RX's were problematic with multiple servos driven from a single channel source or signal, this problem was fixed with a component update.

You servos may need the component update but its not required unless your using but Futaba PCM RX's.

I'd be concerned on the ability of the 2700's to handle the current loads, my experience with the 2700 NiMHs cells suggested they are not capable of high discharge rates. Simply check with the manufacturer or load test them to determine if their prudent choice or not. You’re looking for low impedance cells...

I will be using 1 5955 on my rudder, and 1 5955 on each aileron. On my elevators I am using 5945s, a 5645 on throttle, and 645 on choke.

Because I am using 2 receivers I will be splitting the plane in half, so 2 battery's, and only maximum 2 5955s in use on that battery, well would it not be OK. My battery packs are the Expert packs, don't know who to contact about there ability to withstand high loads. I think it would be OK. What would be the best cells to use.

Thanks.

Do you have a way to cycle or discharge the batteries? How about an electronic ESV that will allow you to load the battery down to with 1.5 Amp load? This device will be required to load test the batteries prior to each flight to safeguard against flying your model with depressed voltage and capacity.

If the batteries are fairly new they maybe ok, some older 2700's were high impedance and not up to the task IMO.

Do you have an inline current-voltage meter, H9 and other offer theses devices?

I cycle my batteries once in a while by giving them a full charge with my ACE Smart Charger and then to test their capacity I discharge them with a Hangar 9 discharger. I keep a record of their capacity. I use a digital voltmeter to test voltage between flights and stop flying at 6 volts.

I have another large Ultimate with 9 servos, 7 5945 servos, and the same batteries/setup with no issues, so I was thinking all would be fine.

I will look into the electronic EVS.

Thanks.

Flip and Fly, I quit using my expert Nimhs as under a 1amp load they would bog down badly. The new 1950 nimhs however are claimed to handle up to 20amps burst.
The H9 load meter which can put a 500mah, 1 amp and 2amp load on your system has given me good service and it doesnt need batteries!!

Thanks Andyt,

The H9 load meter looks good, I will get one. I have been doing some looking around and I found that the Expert Sanyo cell 2700 pack have an internal resistance of 20 mOhms. Not the best. However since I am running two packs some people think I will be OK. What is the max load a 5595 servo can dish out. I have been running 5945s in a similar setup with no issues.

Anyway I still might go with the 1950mah cells. I can always use the other packs elsewhere.

Thanks.

I used to run the very same cells until I put an onboard telemetry device on one of my planes!!!!
I believe the 5955 can be as high as 1.5amps stalled but maybe mglavin can chime in here as hes the expert. I have had no problems with the 5945s except some Futaba issues that Hitech fixed with a hardware update.

The 5995/5995 servos like its OEM counterparts consume about 2.6 amp loaded up and potetially can pull nearly four amps stalled.
