Hello,

We use .060 PETG. Anything less would not do well on the sides. Or have many cracks starting. I hate seeing tape all over canopys.

Thanks
John

I have not weighed my hatch by itself but there is alot of Plastic there. I would be affraid if it were any thinner. Seems to be a good compromise

The 1lb 4 oz was just the weight of the plastic, not the whole hatch. It is definitely very beefy, but it's also a very large canopy as well. Does anyone have any detailed pics of how the canopy is glued down and how you transitioned the front lip into the hatch?

Steve I do not have any pictures of how mine is done but my Canopy is glued to the hatch then I used filler to transition from the plastic to the wood then I came back and glassed in with 3/4oz glass. it gives a very nice transition from the canopy to hatch to cowl.

The 210 version is on the covering table at my Dads place. I hope to head over their soon and get it finished up. I would like to fly it before the first of the year.

My digital camera seems to be on vacation (it won't even turn on) so I don't have any new photos at the moment. The canopy is glued down to the hatch, I used all-purpose goop for this. Being a rubbery glue when dry, it seems to absorb a lot of the vibrations and saves wear on the canopy, preventing cracks.

The cowl is almost done as well. I bought louvers from Stan's Fiberglass and they very solid. However, the vents are filled with resin, so it was a lot of work with the Dremel to grind it out and open the vents. Also, the cowl was bigger in diameter than the cowl ring, so I ended up taking almost 1" of material off the sides of the cowl to get it to wrap around the ring correctly. And although the finish work on the cowl is pretty good, there were some very large voids from the mold on the front lip that needed filling. I used epoxy and microballoons.

I wanted to use the H9 paints (that match Ultracote) for the cowl and hatch, but the paint seems to be on back order from everyone (including Horizon). I'll probably just prime it and fly it until the paint is back on the market again.

Pete, what paint colors are you looking for? I see a few hobby shops in my travels and perhaps one will have some of the colors in the H9 paint display.
