I tried this with one of the "other" brands of mini receivers and it wouldn't work with my Futaba 9ZAP either. So since I've got a Hitec FM receiver (IIRC it's an 8 channel and is not quite a year old) in a trainer I keep around and it works with the 9Z, I thought the 05S would work with the 9Z as well. It doesn't...

Now I'm really confused. I'd like to use my regular tx with my foamies, but those receivers will only work with my 9CAP. The 9C has a fixed frequency module, where the 9Z has a synthesized module. The 9ZAP is new and is the WC2 version, so I don't think it's the tx.

I've verified that I'm using the PPM mode and the correct channel, but all I get is small movements from the channel two and four, channel one runs the servo to one limit and channel three will run the motor but I can't shut it completely off. I've verified that the travel limits are set at 100% only, no expo, no sub trim.

Any ideas?

Thanks

The 9Z synthesized module is known to use proprietary encoding and not work with many other OEM RX's... The 05S will work with a standard TX module in the Z.

Is there a problem with the 9C and the 05S?

Thanks for the quick reply.

No there is no problem with the 9C, it's just that I've been setting up all my models for the new 9Z and the 9C is my backup tx right now. I was hoping to get everything working with the 9Z and I've bought several of these cute little receivers for my foamies. I just figured since it worked with the trainer's rx, and I tried it on a buddy's little GWS receivers and those worked, that it was a problem with that "other" brand.

Guess I'll have to consider the fixed frequency module for the 9Z if I want to use it. Are you sure the 9Z will work with fixed frequency? I'd hate to drop another chunk of change for that tx module and have it not work either.

Thanks again, at least I know what the problem is now.

Yes. I'm sure it will work with standard module. Try the module from the 9C to verify it works...

I appreciate the suggestion, but the 9C and 9Z modules are not interchangeable...

I've been around enough to know sometimes "unofficially" is the only way to get things done. But since the frequency is set through the user interface on the 9Z, and mechanically with the two dials on the back of a 9C synthesized module, how do you set the frequency? With the 9Z before you pull it off?

Edit info:

Strike that last question; It's late and I've been tinkering too long today...

You can use a standard fixed TX module in either TX. The Z's synth module is not usable in the 9C and I suspect 9C synth module won't work in the Z.

I thought you mentioned you had a standard module for the 9C?

Yeah I do, that's why I edited my last response. It dawned on me after I posted that I was thinking the wrong swap direction...

Thanks again for all your help!
