Hi Everyone, I am new to the forum.
I am looking to get a new truggy. My buddy runs a jammin w/ a Picco motor.
it is fast and I drive it very very well.
I do not want to put that much cash int my first truggy. I am looking to get into something
for around 5-700 bucks out the door ready to go.
What are your suggestions ?
I have heard great things about all the HB truggies, but am unsure which one is good to get.
We have a truggy track down the street from my house, and we built and maintain our own track.

Thanks in advance..

Brian

yeah, i have read up on it a bit.
It looks OK.
I would rather stick with something that has proven itself.

If you want something that is proven, What is wrong with the CRT Ready to Run? The most important parts are already on the truck and you can upgrade later. Your buddy already has experience with the truck and can help you with setting it up and the truck just rips. Any thing else you buy, you will be upgrading it to make it as fast and as easy to drive as your freinds CRT so the choice is a no brainer, At $579 on Nitrohouse.

I have one in front of me right now. The diffs are top of line no one is having problems, Lightning Mugen and others are having problems with diffs. The big bore shocks are top of the line, suspension arms are proven, chassis is machined and hard anodized, b block is hard anodized, the .28 engine has plenty of power, the metal radio tray and front steering brace are being used by many of the owners who run the pro kit because the carbon fiber can crack. There are tons of silly reasons I have heard for the CRT RTR to be junk but no one has run the truck hardly and all the other RTR's have the same and more problems. Readt to runs are a compromise. Screws come loose and sometime the things are not put together perfect. I have seen this on every brand, I work at a super large hobby shop so you can trust my judgement. I run the CRT pro kit with the components I chose. No ready run has the servos, radio, engine or body that I would keep very long. They are a way to get a vehicle in your hands quickly and on a buget, they are not perfect.

Right on CrazySavage..
Well, I will most likely buy a jammin then.
I love the Jammin but had heard bad things about the RTR..
You changed my outlook on it. Thanks!!
So question for ya..
If I buy the Jammin RTR I will have about 250-300 bucks to play with.
What would you recomend I upgrade off the bat ?

As far as the Hellfire, it's a very pricey RTR, the truck looks super impressive, but the servos and radio are basic as can be. The Mayhem ST is a nice truck with a nice radio but it's steering servo is not strong enough and it's short chassis makes the truck a handful to drive. You need to check all the screws and change the diff fluid just to start. After market extended chassis' are in the works and that will cost atleast $80. With out a longer chassis the Mayhem ST will not win races. That's just a few examples of what ready to runs bring to the table. The makers have to make difficult decisions that allow them to get the best possible truck to the beginner and make it cheep enough for it to sale.

Hrdluck 13, The only thing you will need off the bat is a steering servo as fast and as strong as you can afford. The truck comes with a rechargeable reciever battery out of the box. Check all the screws after you run a tank or two and buy some red paste locktite from the auto parts store. The paste sets up quick and it is removeable if you have good tools. Check out www.truggyracers.com and learn all you can about set up and the truck will serve you well. Just remember that all ready to runs have good points and bad points. The CRT has less than most and to top it off it handles better than them all. Just check the net and see what it is doing in the big races. It is placeing 1st through 5th at some big races and is quickly becomeing dominant. If you dont run one, plan to follow one around the track.

Get the Jammin. My opinion, hands down the best truck out there. Get the rtr and upgrade the servos. If Roscoe offers up a good deal on his Jammin, do it!! His loss your gain, sorry Roscoe!!
