I have a JR 3000mah NiCd battery and i went to test it today and it was completely dead. It hasnt been charged in 2 weeks, but hasnt been used in the 2 weeks either. i dont know why it was dead. one time we were workin on the plane and turned the switch on while the battery was charging. would that do anything to the battery? I want to go flying tomorrow so i really need some answers.
Thanx alot!

Turning on a battery while it is in a charge cycle may confuse the charger into thinking that a battery was disconnected, but it won't harm the battery....

My alpha 4 merely starts over when it thinks the battery on a given port was disconnected. If I've got the port set for fast charge, and the battery was in the trickle portion of the cycle when I turned on the circuit to which the battery was attached, the charger merely goes back into fast mode, until the peak is redetermined.

On my switch harness, if you turn on the system, you can't charge the battery. I think all switch harness should be this way. Charge it over nite again at about 350 ma and discharge test it. If you don't have a cycler, make a loaded digital volt meter that puts a 300 to 500 ma load on it. Don't fly if it's below 4.8 V. If you're messing with big batteries like 3000mahs you need more than the standard wall wart charger that comes with your R/C set. You probably ought to have a peak detector charger AND a loaded digital multimeter. Check out Red's battery clinic at the top of this forum.
