You asked me about those lines and they still arnt right, here look at this carefully, note, the one from the head has no t-fitting, it goes right out, the two on the header t together and then to the tank.

Hi everyone. I am new to this board and also new to the RC hobby thing. I started with a trainer airplane (I haven't flown it yet, just waiting for the rain to quit), then a Traxxas nitro vee (used that I bought on ebay), and the latest........a blade cx helicopter that I have flown several times and only crashed once.......ouch.

Anyhow I read up a lot here on the net about the nitro vee and and decided to buy one. Before I bought it I found out about the cooling problems and about upgrades to the prop. I bought a new octura prop and adaptor shaft but I am curious as to anything I can do about the universal joint (it seems like a real cheesy part on such an otherwise quality boat) a metal one would seem so much better, the factory one seems to have a lot of slop in it. It really surprised me that a boat like this would have such a part with so much slop in it, especially after all I read about having a balanced prop only to have a u-joint that was more fit for a Yugo. The other thing I wanted to know is the part number for a side outlet for the water cooling. I think that Octura makes one but I am not sure and would like some input from someone that has installed a side outlet. I am planning on making all the mods before my first run and doing it right. I first saw nitro boats over 20 years ago and always wanted one ever since and can't wait to finally have my boat in the water. Any help with this is greatly appreaciated. I will report back will info and pics as soon as I get this thing wet and running.

just read through this thread and it will tell all, the outlet is a prather, the u-joint on mine isnt very sloppy and definatly doesnt vibrate or anything, you dont need a metal one, a pro .15 motor will never put enough power out to need that, though graupner has a stronger more precise one, but I havent looked into getting one so I dont have a part number or where to buy it,

Well I have to agree with Skybound_1999. My u-joints on my nitro vee already broke!!Not even a month old.My hats off to Vertical3-D and Nitro_Veedriver there advice and tips are very much appreciated.I since changed my lines to how they should be.I put my rudder back in its original factory spot and im still getting a pull to that side.Going to reduce the water pick up some, shorten it up and reduce diameter maybe that will work.On the other hand bought a Tornado xp nitro buggy RTR with .18 engine radio and allum.oil filled shocks,allum.chassis,1/10th scale $189.00 free shipping!!!By redcat racing!Skybound_1999 here is the side water outlet Rcworldwide.com

Yeah, glad to hear we helped, the water pickup isnt doing it, hows the trim, it should have the outdrive slightly turned one direction to go strait due to the prop walk on the surface drive, all surface drives do that, if its strait then the boat will turn a little, trim it out with radio, shartened pickup spell PRO .15 deathwish,(not reallym its get hot start running like crap and then the RTS will come in handy) I have my brass tube pulling in more water than the stock and didnt have any "odd" pull, just typical surface drive, you new to boats? if so I can see why your saying it pulls to the side...

I,ve been looking all over for the past month for a used Nitro Vee,eBay beats me,the last second I'm outbid.I don't want to pay more than 150.00,being that it's always 25.00 shipping.Anyway somewhere,I don't remember where,I seen one this guy put a .32 in.He said it keeps tearing up the prop.So 3-D,if you go with a .32 you might want to go to brass prop.My engine is on it's way to Fl.I don't expect it for another 2 weeks.I plan on having it done by good friday. Vertical 3-D, I know you are soon off to school, but I was hopeing we could get together to break this "racing barge" in. You can order upgrade GRAUPNER U-JOINT from HOBBY LOBBY for $ 8.00 & $ 7.99 shipping.

Gee, I hope I am not one of the ones that outbid you at the last second. I have that problem as well on Ebay but once in awhile I get lucky. I bought this boat advertised on ebay as being in great condition only to get it with a broken u-joint and and a driveshaft with bushings that were severely worn out and a big crack on the top cover that had been epoxied together and painted over. The guy who sold it to me ended up refunding me 35 bucks when I emailed him, he even advertised it as having a new driveshaft installed. Oh well, so much for buying something like this used, but I do enjoy tinkering around with these kind of things and making them better than new. So far I haven't taken it out on the water just started it once to make sure it ran ok then shut it down. Kinda reminds me of the Cox car I had as a kid I still remember the smell of the nitro fuel. I can't wait to try her out on the water once I get all the mods done. Good luck with your quest for a good used Vee on Ebay.

If you don't use eBay, where should I look?? It does'nt have to be "good",I'd just like to get my monies worth. My Vee is good, but I'm changing everything. So I'm going to have all good engine & parts,I'd really like to find a Nitro Vee with burned up engine,no electronics, for less than $150.00,if more,it better be like new.
