has anyone put a gasser in this plane? I will be starting one next week and I am going to be putting in a Brillelli 25cc in her. Any comments or mounting suggestions are welcome.

Do you think that the Saito 180 would be too big to fit in the CMP Texan? Gary

How about a MVVS 26 PETROL or a EVO 26 PETROL they are the same engine and would fit just nicely. I get my MVVS 26 in a couple of weeks and throws a 18*8 prop.

How do the petrol (gas) motors sound? Not as good as a four stroke right? Gary

I guess it all comes down to $$$$, you can fly all day on the smell of an oily rag or pay through your nose for glow fuel all week end then pay for rags to clean your plane up after you have finished for the day. It still sounds great and you still have a sh*t load of fun. At the end of the day the choice is your's.

Just received my Eurokit retracts for the CMP AT-6. Very nice set of gear. They are air up, spring down. Can’t believe how fast I got them from Italy!

bfd04 ,

A flying buddy got the same CMP 160 Texan....and he's got a DA 50 cc in it.... WOW!! So definitely your Brillelli 25cc will fit.

If I were to just put Elo struts on where or what would a good choice be? I thought that for the price of a texan H9 I could get this one and install som struts that don't retract? Or is there some retracts that are not air that are reasonably priced, like 100.00?
Any help would be appreciated..

Well heres a picture of my Texan. My buddy Paul and I build everything in two's, so he has one identical to it. Running a converted Stihl 27cc weedie with the mag ignition. Spring Air retracts, Robart struts and Dubro wheels. Custom instrument panel with a rollover bar and panel for the backseater as well. Will be repainting the cowl and the yellow fuse stripe Navy Blue soon. Pull-pull on rudder with Central Hobbies carbon fiber rod on elevator, all internal in fuse. Tailwheel moved to scale location. All this trick work including the engine machining and muffler manufacturing done by my buddy Paul Thompson. It's good to have good friends. More detailed pics to soon follow.

Later,

Maximus

I picked up one of these in the yellow and red scheme. Not expecting much for the price, I was really surprised by the quality of this ARF. I'm using some 11 year old Spring Air retracts and modified some struts to fit the angle by notching and brazing with 56% silver solder. The fiberglass fuse is thin so I brushed over the formers and inside with finishing resin. It may have added a couple of ounces but it feels much firmer. The wing tubes will be replaced with good strong dowels as tubes can fail easily on a hard landing. Will be running an 11 year old Moki 1.8 with a 16 x 12 APC for speed! Plan to do some scale weathering and flat clear coating to make it look more authentic. Check out the examples in my gallery. I hope it flys as good as they say on the threads here! Paul
