I'm just finishing up my great planes p-51 and have been looking around at what others have done to theirs. I'd love to see your pics of your .40 size P-51 and any special mods you have made to them.

Thanks!

Jeff

I hade one, it was a raidentech/evergreen 40 size mustang, flew pretty good but I wanted to get into aerobatics and large scale so I got rid of it.

Back in the early 70's I was kitting a Mustang for FAI pylon racing. The FAI class back then required a 40 size engine with no nitro, a wing with a minimum of 615 sq in and having no thinner than a 15% section. A couple of us built sport planes using the kit. Mine had a K&B 40 RR and fixed gear (note the wheels - they were Universal brand back then, not Robart).

My flying partner built a really georgeous version with a 60 and full retracts. The 40 size planes were fast, but his was a rocket. Retracts were rare back then and his were partially hand made including the fully retracting tail wheel.

I'm biased but I think they still look good today even though they are not very scale. But then time improves some memories ...

Very nice.. and Very cool...
I am just refitting the cowl on mine with a .46 in it. I am going to use covering on it and trying to find something that is easier apply than Monocaot whcih seems to be a little tougher on compound curves.

One thing you can do that is very easy is put the tail wheel in the correct location!!!
