Except for one individual plane, all the Tigercats were painted either the navy blue, or flat black. They differed only in the numbers, and in some few cases they had nose art. This is, of course, for fighting planes. Some drone controllers and target tugs (yes, they did that too) were yellow and red in various combinations.

The one fighter version that was different was spotted, I think at Miramar, with green and white trim on the basic blue. Here's a picture. It also shows in the Squadron Signal book F7F Tigercat in Action.

Bills isn't Big Bossman a really shiny black though? But then again, I've never seen an ARF that wasn't "shiny" so I guess if they make a black version then I'm already 98% there minus decals.

Bossman is the dark blue. Here's the largest picture I have of it, still a little hard to tell in the picture. But it gives a fairly good view of the nose art.

Sorry, RCU decreased the picture size when it loaded. The original is 2500 x 1629. If you would like the full size picture send me your email address and I'll send it.

hmmm, I've been looking at that plane in pics for years, and always thought it was black. Guess you learn something new everyday. Thanks for the info.

That's another shot of "Bossman." You can see the blue if you lighten it up a little bit. You also can see the rear cockpit better when you do.

Bill,

I'll ask Flaps about the color. He flew both AD Skyraiders and radar equipped, F7F Tigercats in Korea. Of course, that's a long time back to remember.

Ed Moorman mentioned the F7F with radar - they were "Droop-Snoot" versions. And they were black, used as night fighters. Finally found a couple pictures, posted here. Note the "Goiter" under the chin.

HI:
The stock color scheme will most likely be the dark navy blue. Thats the way the model is beeing prepared for the Toledo Show. I would like to get Mike Browns permission to do his Reno Racer (as we did for his Sea Fury). The all black reno racer may come out as a limited edition but this is still quite far down the road.

Yes, we will have a Cessna 185. I have the prototype pictures and will post them soon to the Sea Plane Forum. It will share the same floats that we use for our 8 foot DH-2 Beaver
Cheers,

Here's one with a scale nose strut. Guess which particular plane it's painted to match? Of course it was done before Brown bought it, so it's not defaced with all the names below the canopy.

Another point - This model is the F7F-2, Brown's plane is an F7F-3. The vertical fin gives it away.

HI:

Please rest assured that I will have the specs and some preproduction pictures posted to our web site very shortly. I would like to make the initial intro for the model on our website before posting here. My web guy is working diligently to get all the info sorted and posted. Rest assured that I will have a picture posted here as well. By the time I come back from Nurnberg Germany everything should be ready to post.
Cheers,

I think the models shown in your post is a F7F-3. As I remember, the tall tail was used on the -3's and -4's. The -1's and -2's used the short tail.

an ex-F7F-3 crew chief

The pic in post 56 appears to be the short tail while the pic in post 57 has the tall tail.

Gentlemen:

If anyone feels that we do not replicate the airplanes we chose to model with a great deal of accuracy then we would like to hear about the suggestion you may have to make it better. Thats what helps us make a better model. We are willing to modify molds to address these type of items. I am fully aware that some items are not perfectly to scale but many times it may be because of optimizing flight characteristics rather than looks. As I am sure you all know sometimes scaling down a model does not simply assure you of a stable flying model.

That being said it would help us more to receive a suggestion (constructive criticism) on how you would make the B-25 more detailed rather than a statement that it is "not scale at all" (which I would candidly have to disagree with).

On the subject of the F7F, we have worked very hard to offer a very realistic model. Remember that the production unit will have an all glass wing with the panel lines and rivet detail molded into it. I would challenge any other ARF company to produce something even close to its quality for the price we will offer it at.

Cheers,

Mr. Kondor,
Ok,, as you asked for suggestions,, here is one that should
make the 'purist' happy..
I want you to do the F7F in a TRUE 1/6 scale..
Given the specs of a fullscale below then followed by the
1/6 specs.

Length 46 feet 10 inches
Height 16 feet 7 inches
Maximum Take Off Weight 25,720 lbs
Wingspan 51 feet 6 inches
Maximum Speed 435 MPH

Length 93.6 inches
Height 33.16 inches
Maximum Take Off Weight 4286.6 lbs
Wingspan 103 inches
Maximum Speed 72 MPH

I don't think that is asking for much...
A 93" plane that weights 4000# and
does not excedes 72 mph..
Oh,, and I do expect ALL the airfoils
to be just as the full scale is...

You will have this plane ready for Toledo,, correct..?
