According to their web site http://www.morganfuel.com/omega_blends.htm all of their Omega fuel is 17% oil at 30/70 castor/synthetic...including their FAI fuel! What a joke

Well I want to break in my Saito .82 on Omega 15%, but I would really like to have more than 17% oil... does anyone know where I can obtain castor oil to add to the Omega?

If you can't find it anywhere else you can order it diretly from SIG

http://www.sigmfg.com/cgi-bin/dpsmart.exe/MainMenuFV4.html?E+Sig
Click Fuel
then Lubricant
then Baker's AA Grade Castor Oil

Sherm,

You are so close to Stan at S&W fuels that you could probably holler over the fence to him!!!

Check him out. s-whobby.com

Take an afternoon and ride over to see Stan. He makes great fuel, very reasonable price, and he can custom blend anything you like for your engine.

Try your LHS. They usually sell quarts of SIG Castor. You can also get quarts of TechnoPlate too. Takes a long time to use up a quart of Castor.

Good luck,

Cheers,

If you want to determine the exact amount of oil in your fuel (any fuel), just mix it well and pour one once into one of those one once epoxy mixing-cups. Set it aside for about five days to let the alcohol and nitro evaporate. What’s left is your oil. Do the math and you will know the exact amount of oil in your fuel. Add oil if the percent of oil is less than you would like. I do this when I want to break-in an engine on 25% oil. (Old school thinking)

Castor lasts a long time??? Not if you run a Tartan twin or any of the old ignition engines that use a 2 to 1 or 3 to 1 oil content. I run my old Ohlssons and Forster on methanol.

A 3 to 1 mix uses a quart for a gallon of fuel.

This may not work unless you store it above 98 degrees, the flash point of nitro.

I have no idea why that information is often omitted from the labeling of most fuel brands. I suspect that the typical Joe doesn't really care, and just wants a jug of the "green fuel" or the "pink fuel" that he saw somebody else using. If the average consumer is concerned about anything, it's "how much nitro" is in that jug. You can rest assured THAT percentage will be prominently displayed.

It's pretty easy nonetheless to visit the manufacturers website and get the oil percentage information if you're so inclined. Since warranties can be affected by the percentage of oil used, it is in the interest of the fuel manufacturer to give you that number if he wishes to sell you his product. He's not revealing any secrets in doing so.
