What is involved in installing a fuselage, and what modification would be required to install on an mx400.

There is nothing to mod unless you make some retracts.

Do you have a specific diagram, instruction for your home made retract that you can email me if your open to making it known to me? I realy want so badly to get a Bell 222 or perhaps Airwolf but can't afford the kit with retract included. The Bell 222 (Gray) can I ask where did you get it? and the cost? I saw one I'm not sure if it's the same but I thought one of the pic is yours? I saw it at Heli Direct for $70 bucks is this correct? How much did you spend when making the retract? Let me know. Thanks any help would be much appreciated.

Yes, This is the T-rex or 450 size fuselage. The retract diagram is included with every kit.

Are you saying that some kit comes with diagram for retract even though you buy the kit with out the retract? It still comes with one? Sort of doesn't make sense but I'll take your word for it. Thanks

It makes sense because in the case of the bell222, it can be built as a UT skidded version or the more popular version with the retracts. The reason why I include retract diagram is #1, they are pretty simple to make and the buyer may want retracts. If i build them It will take alot of time which I need to devote to fuselage production at the moment. One of these days i will build a bunch of retract sets but I do believe it wil be cheaper if offered as a DIY thats why I include the diagram showing the parts needed.

Thank you for your time, I see what your saying. One more question in terms of the balsa wood from your home made pics of the retract base. What is the thickness of it, it's been so long since I bought balsa wood and if i rember correct you can buy them according to thickness and how durable you want them etc...hope my question makes sense. I love the idea of DIY it's more fun and makes the hobby more interesting. I'm new to the Heli hobby and finding it's def. super time consuming and needs lot's of patients all the way around to flying, building, etc...etc...etc... Thanks and won't bug you again.

Balsa?.....Not for a structural support part. I use a 1/8 or 3/32 plywood. Can be found at the LHS

I like what you have done with the Airwolf. Do you have more details on how the retracts were made?

What I was looking for was maybe a build list and dimensions. What size wire did you use and wheels?

I use 1" foam wheels on the rears and I used a 3/4 tail wheel on the front. The wire is 3/32 music wire. In my kits I do include a diagram and it does list the items needed to make the gear.

What type of servo is used? Is it a retract servo or is it a standard servo

Sir,

I found a good Airwolf Fuselage made by JMD at Helihobby, heard of them? I hear they are good fuselage and sturdy not like the plastic cheap kind and the price is excellent for $50 bucks. The retract unit costs $60 bucks though. Would it be cheaper to make my own? if you don't mind me asking as you made one what was the total cost of parts. Or is it difficult to build from scratch and too time consuming. Would you mind giving me your suggestion. Also what is the diff between using normal servo for retract to a retract servo. I imagine w/a servo retract it retracts slower and smoother real like? I don't care for that if I can use a reg. servo I'd rather do that to save money. What's your thoughts on the servo deal. Thanks for your time.

Take care
