Tim,

The best I could do is trace the top view of the full-scale airplane from the book I have at home; I never made plans for a "fat" version. My modus operandi was: (1) Bob Dible kicked me in the butt and said go look at the Great Planes Shoestring, wouldn't something like that be cool to race; (2) I found a Shoestring and measured it to derive the formula specs; (3) I drew up a Cosmic Wind-looking model that fit the formula specs.

I do actually have a bunch of photos of the refurbished model, complete with Turbo-Jett muffler and fiberglass pants ... just haven't sat down to scan them in, find my FTP program in the files I salvaged from my other computer that crashed in December, and upload them to the site. A thousand pardons, I'm a lazy muffin, flog me with a wet noodle.

Duane you are a bad monkey !!!

I appreciate the effort - it would be nice to see some pics when you can. What book do you have that the drawings came from ??
I have looked at other "sport scale" Cw's and yours is the best looking with out a doubt !

Take it easy

Tim,

Sorry for the delay ... the 3-views I worked from are on pages 116 and 120 of "The Air Racer" by Charles A. Mendenhall, 1994 ed., ISBN 0-933424-01-9, Library of Congress no. 79-4715. It has a lot of the old standard F1s like Shoestring, Owl, Rivets, Cassutt, Shark, Swee'Pea, Stinger, etc., but none of the cool modern ones such as Nemesis, Loki, or Kelly. And Stinger's stablemate, Estrellita, is also missing. So approach with caution.

I will now attempt to post some scanned-in photos of my blue Cosmic Wind with the Jett .91 BSE and Turbo-Jett muffler ... wish me luck!
