G'Day :-)

Ah, I see! So in general it's okay as long as you do your own prep work on it. Ie, radio, piezo, servos. The actual flying performance is ok then.. I'm still pounding the simulator every day/night. I downloaded the Picolo model from one of the retailers sites and it's good fun to fly too.

Crikey! You got it my friend. Pick your own bits and set it up yourself. Not much work actually.

Hey, I just sold my FEDA heli, it was my very first heli, it definitely has to be balanced really well, I only had it for a couple of weeks and was practicing on it, almost every day for a couple of battery charges. It is very tough, I couldn't get it to hover for more than a few seconds at a time, but I do really enjoy the challenge! It is pretty darn durable, I haven't broken a thing on it, but then again, I haven't crashed it from higher than 3 feet. Anyway, for the price, I'd say it's worth it, I have sold it, cause I already have the itch for a little bigger heli, plus somethin a little easier to learn on, I just was able to put $ together and ordered a Corona complete kit. From what I read on a lot of these forums, it was a good choice. I also was planning on ordering a G2 , Lite, simulator, is that a good one to learn on? I just don't really feel like spending $200 on a sim and I can get the lite edition for about $125, so I think I'll go for it. I wasn't planning on getting a sim, because I was making decent progress on my heli, but, I think it'll really help me learn faster and I even think it would be fun too! Oh yea, one more thing, on the Feda heli, the radio, right switch controlled throttle and lean left/right, the left stick controlled yaw and nose down and up. It never dawned on me, but I noticed on some other controllers, that the left controls throttle.......... Is that the norm? if so, I'm really glad I got rid of the Feda before I got really used to the controls. I read somewhere that the left stick usually controls throttle and yaw and the right stick controls lean left/right and nose up and down. Is that how it usually is? Man this is gonna get confusing. hahaha Anyway, sorry for the long post, I'm just a heli newbie who wants some info and am really excited about helis! Thanks

Corona is an excellent choice as is the G2 sim. These will bring you along the learning curve in fine fashion. The Tx setup that you had was mode I which is common outside the USA. Most RC pilots (plank and Heli) fly mode II with the throttle on the left. It isn't a problem until you need an experienced pilot to check fly one of your helis and then the difficuty begins. Go with Mode II if you are in the USA. How much did you get for the Feda?

Funny you asked, I actually listed it on ebay and would've got pretty close to what I paid for it, but some deadbeat, ended up outbidding and winning the auction and never paid, but I ended up selling it to someone else for like $230, not bad, I bought it for $280 plus shipping. So, the mode 2, has the throttle and yaw on left? cause the Feda had throttle on right and yaw was on the opposite side... just curious, so i can mentally prepare myself for the change, haha. Thanks for the input, so the "lite" edition should be fine? What's the difference besides more models? on the sim................... Thanks again

I just converted the Zhen Hua 72MHZ PCM transmitter by moving the power up ratchet from the right to left stick. This is the unit that is shipping with the FEDA heli's from HK www.rvminc.net. Just remove the spring and arm from the left stick to the right and the ratchet tension arm from the right to the left stick. Be patient. Even I could do it with my big hands. Last step is to carefully lift the transmitter PC board and swap the connectors (two middle ones) that plug into the board. Thats it. No soldering. Works fine and it took less than an hour. Just wanted to relieve any stress someone might be having over what to do.

We can provide the Feda with this configuration, so no changes necessary.

I got one from this vendor. I purchased the bare naked heli, with battery, charger and motors. I purchased everythnig else piece by piece.

It is pretty much identical to the century Heli
http://www.centuryheli.com/products/helikits/cn1020_hummingbird/index.htm

or the helihobby hummingbird
http://www.helihobby.com/html/hummingbird_helicopter.html

The parts are identical... the photos up close are identical. Century uses their own electronics, whereas others use their own. Like computers, you can use various components to get the job done.

There are videos on Century's web site of the heli in fight. Looks stable in the hands of the professionals. Mine... I've set up with GWS gyro, no name micro servos, and the gws micro reciever. Everything seems to work well.... but, the user interface needs more practice ;-) I am afriad to get any higher than 3 inches off the floor.....

The only thing I've noticed in my floor flying, is that it is sensitive. So, avoid large changes in the stick.

Hope my input helps a bit.

The RTF Hummingbird I got from www.rvm.inc came with their an all in one board containing 72mhz PCM receiver, mixer for motors, gyro and speed control on on a single board. The dealer says the receiver has a range of 300 meters or about 1000 feet. I have not had a chance to fly mine yet due to crowded house and bad weather and wind outside. I have run it up and the mechanics are very stable with little to no vibration after loosening the blades. Don't even try to fly it right out of the box as they are too tight and you will need to zero the swashplate paddles. They are at 30 degrees out of the box. No wonder some posts reported bad vibrations. Looks just like the Century Hummingbird except for the electronics. Also, I made a previous post that I converted the Zhen Hua 72 MHZ PCM transmitter that came with it so that the power is now on the left stick. Easy mod to do. Read my previous post. Can't wait to fly this bird after spending the last 6 months on my G-2 simulator. Without that sim time, I'd be crashing. Hope to report some success in flying it soon.

that guy in HK email is gary@rvminc.net
if anyone wants to ask him any questions.
Seems like a nice guy. He puts an excellent VCD with an
hours worth of flying around his shop and outside around Hong Kong. Much better than those little clips you have all seen.
The HK Hummingbird appears to be very stable in flight.

hi!
Almost red all you post. Now I'm confused if I bought a it right the FEDA Mini Dragonfly. I dont know if I also have a problem in my FEDA. I try to blance it and trims and the blades and gyros. I already lift up from the ground from 1 meter. I just can't steady to hover. May be due to the small amount of winds outside and I need more proactice in simulator. cause I only practice in simulator for only 40min and I almost make the heli steady and controllable. I'ts almost thesame with my actual Heli FEDA. I crash more than 10 times and the heli damage the main blade and landing skid. Now I'm trying to find Carbon Fiber blades and light aloy tubings to replace the landing skids.

Thank you guys for the info, I learned a lot.

Have you tried to get the Zhen radio that came with the Feda to work with a simulator? Mine came with a cord to hook up to my computer, but I could never get it to work with any simulator program.

Anyone have any luck getting it to work?
